I observe and document the everyday inter-
action of families. I draw a comparison of
family dynamics among the families photo-
graphed, depicting those dynamics primarily
through the use of space within a household
and the direction and intent of gaze. I would
like viewers to allow this sampling of family
dynamics to inspire re ection on their own
de nition of family.
Fourth-year BFA painting
Medium: oil paint, ink, oil pastels
I offer a visual interpretation of how I make
sense of the world. As an individual with
Aspergers Syndrome, Attention De cit Hy-
peractivity Disorder and Generalized Anxiety
Disorder, I experience dif culty processing
signals from my environment. To symbolize the
resulting feeling of alienation, I have
created two humanoid gures. I intend to
leave the viewer with an understanding of the
lived experience of an individual with
atypical neurology.
