Janet Jackson (born 1966) is an American recording artist and actress. Born in Gary, Indiana, and raised in Encino,
Los Angeles, California, she is the youngest child of the Jackson family of musicians. She first performed on stage
with her family beginning at the age of seven, and later started her career as an actress with the variety television
series The Jacksons in 1976. She went on to star in other television shows throughout the 1970s and early 1980s,
including Good Times and Diff'rent Strokes. At age sixteen in 1982, Jackson signed a recording contract with A&M,
releasing her self-titled debut album the same year. She faced criticism for her limited vocal range, and for being yet
another member of the Jackson family to become a recording artist. Beginning with her third studio album Control
(1986), Jackson began a long-term collaboration with record producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Her music with
Jam and Lewis incorporated contemporary R&B with elements of rap music, sample loop, triplet swing and
industrial beats, which led to crossover appeal in popular music. By the end of the decade, Jackson was named the
second most successful recording artist of the 1990s. Jackson is ranked by Billboard magazine as one of the top ten
best-selling music artists in the history of contemporary music, having sold over 100 million albums worldwide.

A 1901 etching of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, based on an 1898 painting of her in her coronation robe.
Having assumed the throne at the age of ten after the death of her father, King William III, Wilhemina ruled for
fifty-eight years (18901948), longer than any other Dutch monarch. After guiding the nation through the two World
Wars, she abdicated in favor of her daughter Juliana, thereafter making few public appearances until the country was
devastated by the North Sea flood of 1953.

History is the interpretation of past events, societies and civilisations. The term history comes from the Greek
historia (-), "an account of one's inquiries," and shares that etymology with the English word story. The 1911
Encyclopdia Britannica stated that "history in the wider sense is all that has happened, not merely all the
phenomena of human life, but those of the natural world as well. It is everything that undergoes change; and as
modern science has shown that there is nothing absolutely static, therefore, the whole universe, and every part of it,
has its history."

Saint Joan of Arc (French: Jeanne d'Arc; ca. 1412 30 May 1431) is a national
heroine of France and a Catholic saint. A peasant girl born in eastern France, she
led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years' War,
claiming divine guidance, and was indirectly responsible for the coronation of
Charles VII. She was captured by the Burgundians, sold to the English, tried by an
ecclesiastical court, and burned at the stake when she was nineteen years old.
Twenty-four years later, on the initiative of Charles VII, who could not possibly
afford being seen as having been brought to power with the aid of a condemned
heretic, Pope Callixtus III reviewed the decision of the ecclesiastical court, found
her innocent, and declared her a martyr. She was beatified in 1909 and canonized in
1920. She is, along with St. Denis and St. Theresa of Lisieux, one of three patron
saints of France.
Joan asserted that she had visions from God that told her to recover her homeland
from English domination late in the Hundred Years' War. The uncrowned King Charles VII sent her to the siege at
Orlans as part of a relief mission. She gained prominence when she overcame the dismissive attitude of veteran
commanders and lifted the siege in only nine days. Several more swift victories led to Charles VII's coronation at
Reims and settled the disputed succession to the throne.
Joan of Arc has remained an important figure in Western culture. From Napoleon to the present, French politicians
of all leanings have invoked her memory. Major writers and composers who have created works about her include
Shakespeare (Henry VI, Part 1), Voltaire (La Pucelle d'Orlans), Schiller (Die Jungfrau von Orlans ), Verdi
(Giovanna d'Arco), Tchaikovsky ( ), Mark Twain (Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc), Jean
Anouilh (L'Alouette), Bertolt Brecht (Die heilige Johanna der Schlachthfe), George Bernard Shaw (Saint Joan),
and Maxwell Anderson (Joan of Lorraine). Depictions of her continue in film, television, video games, song, and
dance.

Archaeology is the science that studies human cultures
through the recovery, documentation, analysis and
presentation of material remains and environmental
data, including architecture, artifacts, features, biofacts,
and landscapes. Because archaeology's aim is to
understand mankind, it is a humanistic endeavor.
The goals of archaeology vary, and there is debate as to
what its aims and responsibilities are. Some goals
include the documentation and explanation of the
origins and development of human cultures,
understanding culture history, chronicling cultural
evolution, and studying human behavior and ecology,
for both prehistoric and historic societies.
Archaeologists are also concerned with the study of methods used in the discipline, and the theoretical and
philosophical underpinnings underlying the questions archaeologists ask of the past. The tasks of surveying areas in
order to find new sites, excavating sites in order to recover cultural remains, classification, analysis, and preservation
are all important phases of the archaeological process. These are all important sources of information. Given the
broad nature of the discipline there is a great deal of cross-disciplinary research in archaeology. It draws upon
anthropology, history, art history, classics, ethnology, geography, physics, information sciences, chemistry, statistics,
paleoecology, paleontology, paleozoology, paleoethnobotany, paleobotany .

The Song Dynasty was a ruling dynasty in China between 9601279 CE; it succeeded the Five Dynasties and Ten
Kingdoms Period, and was followed by the Yuan Dynasty. It was the first government in world history to issue
banknotes or paper money, and the first Chinese polity to establish a permanent standing navy. The population of
China doubled in size during the 10th and 11th centuries. This growth came through expanded rice cultivation in
central and southern China, the use of early-ripening rice from southeast and southern Asia, and the production of
abundant food surpluses. Within its borders, the Northern Song Dynasty had a population of some 100 million
people. This dramatic increase of population fomented and fueled an economic revolution in premodern China. The
expansion of the population was partially the cause for the gradual withdrawal of the central government from
heavily regulating the market economy. A much larger populace also increased the importance of the lower gentry's
role in grassroots administration and maintaining local affairs, while the appointed officials in county and provincial
centers relied upon these scholarly gentry for their services, sponsorship, and local supervision. The Song Dynasty is
divided into two distinct periods: the Northern Song and Southern Song. During the Northern Song , the Song
capital was in the northern city of Bianjing (now Kaifeng) and the dynasty controlled most of inner China. The
Southern Song refers to the period after the Song lost control of northern China to the Jin Dynasty. During this time,
the Song court retreated south of the Yangtze River and established their capital at Lin'an (now Hangzhou).
