The Battle of Saratoga is an important turning point in the Revolutionary War. The Battle of Saratoga led to the French aiding the Colonists, which later led to victory.

Essential Questions: What questions highlight the big ideas? o Why was the Battle of Saratoga considered the turning point of the war? o What is the treaty of Alliance? o Why did the French agree to help the Colonists? o What was the outcome of this battle? Content Acquisition (Objectives): Student will know. There were actually two separate battles that took place, which are referred to as the Battle of Saratoga It is considered the turning point of the American Revolution because the victory of the Continental Army convinced the French Empire to help fight the British. Skill Acquisition (Objectives): Student will be able to Identify the key details of the Battle of Saratoga Describe the reasons that the Battle of Saratoga is of great importance to the Revolutionary War Explain why the Treaty of Alliance occurred and why it is important to the
outcome of the war. Stage 2- Assessment Evidence Performance Tasks: What tasks will students be able to do to demonstrate understanding? Students will work in groups to create a poster board that summarizes their knowledge of the Battle of Saratoga and its outcomes Students may demonstrate understanding through reading comprehension completion
