CONTRABAND INTERCEPTED AT PARCHMAN, THREE MEN
CHARGED
JACKSON - Whoever has been waiting for two large bags of contraband at Unit 29 at the Mississii
State !enitentiar" at !arch#an will $ee waiting%
&nvestigators with the Mississii 'eart#ent of Corrections have sei(ed the bags and charged three
#en) all of who# have cri#inal records and were still *nder s*ervision when arrested%
+incent Mc,ee) 2-) Oriente .a"lor) 2/) and 'es#ond 0vans) 29) are each charged with introd*ction
of a controlled s*bstance into a correctional facilit") introd*ction of contraband into a correctional
facilit") two co*nts of consirac" and ossession of a firear# b" a convicted felon%
.he #en were arrested after a civilian called abo*t a 2112 2*ic$ 3eSabre atte#ting to ra# his vehicle
as the 2*ic$ was leaving the rison gro*nds at -4// a%#% on Ma" 5% &nvestigators with the Corrections
&nvestigation 'ivision 6C&'7 resonded to the area north of Unit 29 $nown as Steve8s 9ead:*arters%
.he" fo*nd the 2*ic$ wrec$ed in a ditch with one #an still inside and two others r*nning in different
directions%
Once all three #en were in c*stod" and the area was searched) investigators) aided b" MS! K-9) fo*nd
the bags% .he" also fo*nd a loaded %;/-caliber istol near the 2*ic$% A chec$ revealed the g*n had
been stolen <eb% 2=) 2119) fro# Saginaw) Mich%

C&' 'irector Sean K% S#ith said investigators are still tr"ing to learn who was to receive the
contraband% >We believe the individ*als were atte#ting to throw the ite#s over the fence b*t #*st

over the fence%
Netting is being installed at Unit 29 and three others at MS! to revent ite#s fro# getting into the
rison fro# over the fence%
Mc,ee) who had been o*t on earned release s*ervision) is now an in#ate at Unit 29% Once his earned
release s*ervision ends) tentativel" on Ma" 29) he will be sent to the S*nflower Co*nt" Jail beca*se
of the new charges% 9e had received three sentences in 9inds Co*nt" D siC "ears each for ar#ed
car@ac$ing and ar#ed robber" and another three "ears also for ar#ed robber") with the sentences
r*nning conc*rrentl"%
2oth .a"lor and 0vans had been released on robation earlier this "ear% .he" were ta$en to the
S*nflower Co*nt" Jail following their arrests Ma" 5%
.a"lor) who was convicted in 9inds Co*nt") received eight "ears to serve and five "ears8 robation for
ar#ed robber" and an eight-"ear conc*rrent sentence for vehicle theft in A*g*st 211E%
0vans received an eight-"ear sentence with five "ears8 robation for ar#ed robber" in Madison Co*nt"
