Statement
The People of Christ the
King in Lombard are a
welcoming, vibrant faith
community building the
kingdom of God through
our many ministries. We
celebrate our diversity,
seeking to realize the
gifts of each member of
our parish, as we are all
joined together under
one faith, in a spiritual
journey of
evangelization, service
to others, and a
reverence for all life. In
the Eucharist, we find
new life, and bring this
life to others through
stewardship, education,
and worship.

ADORATION OF THE
BLESSED SACRAMENT

Each year more parishes are
offering Adoration of the
Blessed Sacrament during
various days and times of the
week. At various parishes there have been
times when the Blessed Sacrament is ex-
posed and no one is in the church or
chapel. The devotion of adoration of the
Blessed Sacrament is important to
many people, and as this devotion develops
in a parish, more people will be signing up to
spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sac-
rament. Until this devotion is well developed,
care should be taken to make sure there are
people present throughout the Adoration
time. Should a parish need assistance in de-
veloping the prayer sign up, please con-
tact the Office of Divine Worship ( 815-221-
6229)

"[There is] a time for mourning, a time for dancing" (Ecclesiastes 3:4). But mourning and dancing are never fully separated. Their
"times" do not necessarily follow each other. In fact, their "times" may become one "time." Mourning may turn into dancing and
dancing into mourning without showing a clear point where one ends and the other starts.

Often our grief allows us to choreograph our dance while our dance creates the space for our grief. We lose a beloved friend, and in
the midst of our tears we discover an unknown joy. We celebrate a success, and in the midst of the party we feel deep sad-
ness. Mourning and dancing, grief and laughter, sadness and gladness - they belong together as the sad-faced clown and the happy-
faced clown, who make us both cry and laugh. Let's trust that the beauty of our lives becomes visible where mourning and dancing
touch each other.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Deanery priest moderator over these years. It has been a joy to serve and work with
the CCW of Christ the King Parish. You all are a blessing to your families, parishes and to the Church of Joliet.
Pray for me as I for you+

Fr. Peter Jarosz, Moderator Eastern DuPage Deanery, Council of Catholic Women

Happy Mothers Day!

Christ the King Council of Catholic Women wishes a Happy Mothers Day to all the
women of the parish. May Our Lady of Good Counsel watch over you and your fami-
lies. If you ordered flowers to honor your loved ones, please remember to pick them
up after Mass today.
The 36th Annual Joliet Diocese Council of Catholic Women, Woman of the
Year Mass and Luncheon was held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Cathe-
dral of St. Raymond. Michelle Iwinski, Kate & Rick Uhart, Madalene Can-
nata, and Fr. Peter Jarosz represented Christ the King Parish.

ters around our community and diocese. The staff would like to thank the
past board for all they have accomplished and done for the family of Christ
the King and with the surrounding CCW deanery parishes. May God be
with the new board as they continue to build on the good work that has
been accomplished with Gods help over these years at CTK. Fr. Jeff,

ful women of our parish, commissions, councils and the whole community

Reflecting on Gods Word
At the end of the day, shepherds would bring their sheep
to a common sheepfold, leading them through a gate
that was guarded during the night. Shepherds would
give names to their sheep and call to them when day-
light came, leading them back out to pasture. Because
the sheep recognized the shepherds voice there was no
mix-up with sheep that belonged to others.
The idea that shepherds had a name for each of their
sheep brings home the difference between a good shep-
herd and a stranger. The good shepherd was concerned
not only for the flock but for each sheep in it. He knew
them and they knew him. They will not follow a
stranger; they will run away from him, because they do
not recognize the voice of strangers (John 10:5).
There are two words in Greek for goodagathos and
kalos. Agathos refers to moral goodness, as in being a
good person. Kalos refers to being good at some-
thing. Certainly Jesus is the Good Shepherd in both
senses, but the word used here is kalos, emphasizing his
being good at shepherding.
Jesus knows his sheep by name, leads them to safety
when darkness falls, and returns them to pasture. He
was willing to lay down his life for them. Most comfort-
ing of all, he came then and comes now so we might
have life and have it more abundantly. This image chal-
lenges all who have been called to be shepherds in to-
days church, to be good shepherds and to be good at
shepherding.

Easter Prayer
Lord, out of the depth of your love you
called us to new life in Christ. As we
rejoice in the resurrection, may our lives
and our work together echo the many
gifts you have blessed us with a purpose.
May all our being resound the glory of
your name. Alleluia. Amen
Have a Blessed and Joyous Easter Season
Loving God,
as a mother gives
life and nourishment
to her children,
so you watch over your Church.

Bless all mothers,
that they may be strengthened
as Christian mothers.

Let the example of their
faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we,
their sons and daughters,
may honor them always
with a spirit of profound respect.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.

Whats Happening at the Early Learning Academy

We are approaching our last two weeks in preschool and are quite busy completing our portflios. Next
Monday, May 5th all of the students will participate in a walking field trip to the Lombard Fire Station.
Our caterpillars have transformed into the chrysalis stage and students are anxious for
"butterflies". The current unit is "Insects". Preschool students painted ladybugs and created butter-
flies out of coffee filters. They also painted paper plate earths for "Earth Day", and tissue paper
trees for "Arbor Day".

Next week our Bible story is "Joseph and The Coat of Many Colors". We will celebrate May birthdays,
summer birthdays, and continue with bumble bee's, writing our names, counting, and enjoying the out-
doors. (weather permitting)
Mrs. Leslie and I want to thank all of the parents for their support. It has been a wonderful, enrich-
ing year and we wish all of you a very sunny summer vacation!!!

Our parish participates in the Safe Environment

a background check on file, and an Acknowledge-

not need a full social security number. Each docu-
ment is kept in a locked fireproof cabinet. This is to

Statement of the Diocese of Joliet Re: Filing of five law-
suits in Will County April 30, 2014

CREST HILL, IL--The Diocese of Joliet has
not yet been served with the five lawsuits
filed in Will County Court today. After re-
ceiving copies of the suits and reviewing
the specifics of the pleadings, diocesan
officials will respond in the appropriate fo-
rum.

Anyone who may have been sexually
abused as a minor by a member of the clergy, employee or
volunteer of the diocese is urged to report the abuse to civil
authorities and to the diocese. Reports may be made to any
pastor or by contacting the dioceses Director for the Office
of Child and Youth Protection at (815) 221-6116.

Dealing with the tragic history of child abuse is part of the
Churchs ministry today. The people of the Diocese of Joliet
pray every day for those who have been abused and for
those responsible for it. They ask the Lord for healing for all
His people who suffer for what has happened in their midst.
With Gods help, the diocese will continue to do its best to
assure the safety of its children.
ANNUAL SAFE ENVIRONMENT AUDIT

Sometime this month, pastors and Safe Environ-
ment Coordinators will be receiving a packet with
forms and instructions regarding the Annual Safe
Environment Audit. This is to ensure that all volun-
teers and employees have undergone training and
criminal background checks. It will also include a
letter to Bishop Conlon to be signed by the pastor
certifying that all requirements have been met.
