Not Paying Tuition?

Pretty Chancy...
Students who have not paid fees for their courses in A and B terms will be removed from
class rosters February 9. Instructors and departments will receive automated emails for
students who have been deleted for nonpayment and also an email if the student is reinstated. Faculty should inform those purged
students that they are no longer officially registered in the course, and that they should not be attending class. See details in
Reinstatement Policy on page 2.
Academically Speaking..... Vol. 57, February 1, 2005

UWF
REINSTATE- Students purged from a class for nonpayment of fees for Terms A, B, C are
notified by email. Email notification of this action is also sent to the instructor
MENT of the course and to the academic department offering the course (for notifica-
POLICY tion to adjuncts, etc.). If the student is reinstated into the course, an email
notification to that effect will also be sent to the same areas.
Faculty should review their Spring class rosters after the Terms A&B purge
(February 9) for a current listing of students enrolled in courses (and after similar
periods for Terms C). Students who have been deleted from a course for nonpay-
ment of fees will be designated as “deleted/nonpymt” on the class rosters. Faculty
should inform those purged students that they are no longer officially registered in
the course, and that they should not be attending class. Students should be referred
to either the Registrar’s Office or Cashier if additional information is needed.
We greatly appreciate the assistance of faculty and staff in disseminating this
information to students.
Use of University Facilities and Equipment
University facilities and equipment are intended primarily for the use of the faculty and students currently
enrolled in courses of instruction. Students who have completed registration, including the payment of fees for
the current semester, and whose names appear on the final class rolls, are authorized to attend classes and to use
University instructional areas, facilities, equipment, and designated services. Students, including those continu-
ing work on theses and dissertations, who are not enrolled for the current semester are not authorized to use
instructional space and resources.
Students may not attend classes, including use of instructional space, facilities, designated library services,
and equipment, for which they have not paid fees or from which they have withdrawn.

Looking Ahead to Fall - FAO

When most of the campus is settling into spring semester the Financial Aid Office
(FAO) staff is already looking ahead to Fall Semester 2005. The FAO staff will begin
awarding financial aid for the 2005-2006 year in the next few weeks. All students,
graduate and undergraduate, are being reminded to apply for aid by completing the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Email notifications were sent to all
currently enrolled students prior to the holiday season. Students are advised to apply for
financial aid on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov . The FAO website, uwf.edu/finaid, is an
excellent source of information for students, parents and advisors.
The FAO staff is conducting workshops on campus and at some of the local high schools to assist students
and parents with completing financial aid forms.

Early Warning - UAC

On February 9, 2005, the UAC (University Advising Center) will be mailing Early
Warning rosters to faculty who have freshmen enrolled in their courses. The Early Warning
system is implemented in an effort to identify freshmen who may be experiencing academic
difficulty. The deadline for the return of the rosters is February 23rd. Students who receive an Early Warning
notification on February 25th will be required to meet with their academic advisor to discuss their progress. This
program is a useful retention tool which has been proven to be successful. Your cooperation with this program is
greatly appreciated by the entire UAC Faculty and Staff. If you need any additional information, please contact
the University Advising Center at x. 3170.
