Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct, architecture, design and implementation teams - Managed and designed execution environment running 800 nodes on MapRs M5 distribution - Designed, structure consisting of more than 200 ecosystem compenents - Direction and creation of standards around appropriate stress testing and performance testing of nodes. - Responsible for overall security assurance of the cluster - Design of infrastructural architecture of large splunk cluster - Appropriating methodologies for interaction with downstream and upstream systems in American Express. - Recruitment and interviewing of appropriate big data talent. - Research and development activities, around the technology stack. - Designing reference architecture around newer products and their applicability for business. - Guiding teams for performance tuning and optimization.
Important Achievements:
- While building and testing one of the environments here at American Express, consisting 256 nodes, I guided my team towards achieving a World record feat. we were able to break Terasort and MinuteSort records by miles. We achieved 1 TB sort in 44 seconds and sorted 1.65 TB of data in 59 seconds. These remain unpublished owing to corporate policy at American Express.

Achievements:
- Desined an highly efficient system architecture, which was able to bring down report load time from 120 seconds to sub seconds. This also reduced the operating costs by around two thirds of the original cost incurred.
