1) Henceforth the SDR Rx shall be called ISDR in honour of our students of Indian Institute of Hams and
they are the motivators for this project.
2) ur students !anted to dabble "experiment) !ith SDR and the simplest SDR happens to be
SoftRoc#$% as &uided by our 'lmers. "'lmer is a senior ham !ho ta#es up the mantle of bein& a friend(
&uide( philosopher and above all a teacher). )o! the !ebsite of SoftRoc#$% declares that the #its are no

+) ur IIH students forced,pleaded !ith us and finally !e had to &ive in to their demands and start to
learn( ho! nice*** -nd the result is ISDR.
$) ISDR is electrically compatible !ith SoftRoc#$%.
.) ISDR is a typical /R0 $%mtr Rx coverin& a small portion of $% mtr band and the centre fre1uency of operation is
2%.34H5 a la SoftRoc#$%.6he 7re1uency covera&e depends upon the 0ersonal 8omputer Soundcard and the
9aximum covera&e happens to be :,; 2$ 4H5 usin& the best soundcard. )ormal plain vanilla "8omputerspea#)
soundcards &ive only :,; <4H5 covera&e* 0leases note that !e are not soft!are en&ineers nor are !e soundcard
specialists so !e do not !ish to be involved directly in any discussions in these matters.

2) -ntenna connector is a standard >H7 connector !hich is called S2+?. 0lease use a Half@ave Dipole antenna
or better antenna for best performance.
<) ISDR outputs 0 A / channels to be connected to 0ersonal 8omputer. 'ven thou&h internationally these outputs
are called I and / !e shall call them 0 and / in honour of our Bharat 'lectonics Ctd 'n&ineers !ho had made the
Di&ital Receiver in 8irca 1?<% and called these outputs 0 and /.

!e need to use version 1.$..beta2 or hi&her and to be very honest !e could not ma#e this !or# at all as this has
too many beautiful features means too much code* So !e are usin& a simple /R0 soft!are called Roc#y !hich
needs only 29B *
