New Technology

The Dyad Presentation was quite interesting. First off coming into the project I
had no clue as to why it was called dyad. Later finding out that it basically means two. So
when choosing partners everyone seemed to partner up with someone they were
comfortable with. Naturally this is what students do. They choose someone who they
know and can communicate with the best. So Troy and myself decided to be partners for
the project. Being the pledge that he is I could make him do most of the work, which was
great. Just kidding though! We were assigned chapter fourteen which is communication
and new technologies. The chapter was very interesting because the information
pertained to things we witness and participate in each and every day.

Clearly the information that we obtained from the chapter was way more than a
twenty min presentation. So our objective was to cut it down into a decently lengthened
power point in order to present this information to the class. Something we struggled with
was deciding on what exactly to relay to the class. Because there is so much information
about new technology we needed to pick strategically what to show the class. We
realized that every single little detail that the chapter described was not important to
teaching the class. What was important however was relaying the information that we
obtained effectively. Power point helped out in doing so because we could show the
information that we found and then elaborate from either prior knowledge on a topic of
recent research that was done.

Overall, we had a few strengths and weaknesses. I believe one of my key
weaknesses was talking more. I could have actually practiced this presentation instead of
reading most of it of the slides and elaborating from their. But a key presentation is
always practiced and some what memorized before hand. Troy however, since we both
were in public speaking in which he helped me out with, is a little better at speaking than
me. But I was the one who had to get him going for this entire project. Yes we were lazy
at times and put it off, but I feel that overall we did a solid job. Also, our game with
everyones cell phones at the end of the presentation was really cool. I felt that it helped
that class get a better idea of what new technology is and how it affects society. There
was no better way to present the information that we learned than to actually use this new
technology. That was one of our key aspects to our presentation, the game really helped
us manage our actual presentation time and go the class actively participating. All in all,
the dyad presentation went very well for us and I would recommend for the future that
this is a good way to present and communicate information to a class.
