Vision Statement
Share in our pride and take care of your school. As a
school citizen, you are expected to conduct yourself
properly at all times. Always work hard to maintain the
cleanliness and attractiveness of your school.

It is very important that parents, teachers, and
administrators communicate openly and frequently as a
means of supporting student learning. We all want the
best for our students, but we are not enough. You, the
parents, must play a key role in the education of your
children. Parents count! Come to school, meet with us,
talk with us, join the PTO and volunteer your time and
energy. Your involvement will show your children that
you value their education.

THINK Literacy: THINK Literacy, was developed by in-house experts from
the Harlem Success Academy and is designed to prepare scholars for any
reading or writing challenge they will encounter throughout their
education. Through the program, we strive for scholars to love reading and
discussing their ideas. Through the various components of THINK
Literacy, our scholars learn to express their ideas clearly and precisely and
learn how to construct compelling arguments. The result is that our scholars
are great critical thinkers who understand the power and importance of
reading and writing.
Imagine Learning English: Imagine Learning English is a computer
program that tutors students in English language and literacy. It is used at
Davila as a kind of intervention for students at any tier of the RTI
framework.
Accelerated Reader: This is a progress monitoring software assessment in
wide use by primary schools for monitoring the practice of reading. There
are three steps to using Accelerated Reader. First, students choose and read
a fiction or non-fiction book, textbook, or magazine. Teachers monitor
reading including guided, paired, literature-based, and textbook reading.
Second, students take a quiz. Teachers can create their own quizzes for
those not available in Accelerated Reader. Third, the teacher receives
information that is intended to assist, motivate reading, monitor progress,
and instruction.
