Hi all,
Greetings once again from PNG. I knowit hasn't been too long since we last wrote, so I will try and keep this
short, but wanted to fill you in on a few things and ask for your prayers for some items.
We have been busy this week moving out of the house we have lived in over here for the last 7 years. Many of
you might think we are quite sad about that, but, actually, we are anxious to get on withthe next phase. So the
house is a mess, but we are close to having it all sorted, packed, given, sold, etc. Thank you so much for praying
for us. We feel the impact of your prayers every day. Monday we will be leaving Madang to head up to
Ukarumpa for the next month. Please keep us in your prayers over the next 30 days, as they will be hectic and
busy. The 19th of May is David's Jr/Sr Banquet, the equivalent of the Prom in the States. Cindy has been
conscripted to do two back drops for the photo booth...you know, where there is a scene with funny stuff and two
holes cut out for heads. She did great, as usual, and is glad she was able to get them done ahead of time. When
we get there, she will start immediately painting a large wall mural depicting a scene which reflects the theme of
the banquet, (note to you all: If you have absolutely no talent in the art arena, you are not asked to do such
stuff!! Sometimes there is a blessing in not being able to do anything. I did tell them I would stand around with a
drill or something, and look like I was contributing to the efforts to turn the Gym into a complete "other world".) In
any case, pray for Cindy, as there is a time factor. Each year that she has painted something, she has received
all sorts of oohs and aahs.
Pray for David. We just found out yesterday that he has a flu bug that has been going around, and has had mid
range fever, diahhrea, nausea, etc. He has test in physics today and calculus tomorrow, which he will have to
make up. And it also seems that the teachers are really pilingon the work toward the end, which has him a bit
frantic. Most of all, he is dreading the end of term when he has to say good bye to his good friends, and
especially he is dreading saying good bye to his girl friend. He has fallen quite hard for this gal, who is a super
girl, and is not looking fonward to that part of the end of the school year. So pray for him. He does need your
prayers!
Keren would also like your prayers. She is looking forward to us getting there, as she will be able to live with us,
and not in the children's hostel she has been in. She has good friends there, but Keren simply does better when
Mom and Dad are around. So we look forward to getting there, Just so we can have some time with our kids.
Hard to believe our second one in going off to college! But anyway, Keren is also dreading the end of the year
goodbyes. (I should note, that, other than saying goodbye to their friends, David and Keren both are very ready to
be coming back home.)
Michael, on the other hand, cant wait for us to get back, and we cant wait to see him! He has Just finished the
3rd of his four finals, and has done very well! We are so proud. We cannot wait to see him. He will be working
on campus at Johnson Bible College until the 28th of June, when he will flyto Texas to meet up with us. We
cannot wait! (But of course, we can wait, we have to!)
Cindy and i continue to pray about our future and what the Lord has in store. It is hard not to worry or fret, as I
know that the Lord has plans in store for us. Many of you have asked what we (I) will be doing once we get back
to the USA, and what Jobs I will pursue. Cindy and I have prayed about this a lot, and, to start with, I will look for
something in the private or business sector. We both feel strongly about this, and feel that this is where the Lord
is leading us. One thing we do know for sure is that we want to develop Cindys artistic endeavors. As many of
you know, she is a gifted and very talented artist. I have been searching small business websites, art marketing.

etc. There are lots of opportunities out there. One of the things we have done here is take some of Cindy's
drawings and paintings, and had note cards made from them. In November we did 4 small blackand white
Images, (1600 cards altogether) and by December they were prettymuch all gone. So last monthwe thought we
would try color cards, as a way for us to generate a little capital for us to use to help start us offwhen we get
back. We have offered them to the PBTfamily, as well as the local hotels and resorts...all of whom bought a lotto
stock their gift shops. We do have a limited quantity left, and thought we would offer them to you all as well. If
your are Interested in seeing what they look like, and are interested In helping Cindy get started once we get
back, please reply to this email, and 1will send you small jpeg Images of what the note cards look like as well as
pricing information. We want you to knowwhat we hope to pursue, and give you the opportunityto have some of
Cindy's art for yourselves. So just let me know. (I don't want to send the images now, as many of you cannot
accept attachments, and I don't want to clutter up your Inbox with unwanted stuff.)
One last thing...starting Monday we will switch to our sil (Ukarumpa) email address. This does not mean we are
getting rid of this one, Just using our alternative. Ifyou don't mind, once Monday rolls around, please use jr
c.davis@sil.orq.pq . Don't delete our normal one, but this one will be used for the next month.
We love you all very much. Keep us in your prayers.
Jim (for all of us)

Dear Friends,
Graduation is over. The goodbyes (from school anyway) have been said.
Tears, laughter, memories all combined for a memorable farewell from
Ukarumpa. There were 20 or 30 friends, mostly high schoolers, at our PBT
apartment the morning we left Ukarumpa for the last time to say goodbye.
David and Keren really felt the pang of saying farewell to best friends, and
in David's case, his girlfriend, who he really cares for. Tears flowed
freely, reminding Cindy and me of the goodbyes from our high school days.
And while we have kept up with some of our closest friends from then, we
realize that there are some of our good friends from boarding school that we
have never seen since our graduation. Yet, while sad in many ways, in
others it is an exciting time. David has mentioned many times that he can't
believe that he is finished with high school, and has college and adulthood
facing him. Frankly, we can't believe it either! We are just not that old!
(Well, we are, but we sure don't feel like we should be) But all of us are
excited about what is to come, even if we don't know what it is.
We still have a few days left here. We leave Thursday (the 22nd) for Port
Moresby, overnight there, and then early on Friday morning (the 23rd) we
leave Moresby for Brisbane and Los Angeles. We will spend 2 nights in Los
Angeles getting David squared away in his MK re-entry seminar, and then head
to Dallas, to meet with folks there for a debriefing and reconnecting with
our PBT colleagues there. After that, on the 27th, we will drive down to
New Braunfels, TX, to spend time with Cindy's family and good friends there.
Michael will join us on the 28th, which we all are looking forward to, and
David will fly in from LAon the 7th of July. After 3 weeks or so (Cindy's
folks may get tired of us before then and kick us out!) we will begin the
drive to Knoxville/Pigeon Forge to settle. We will stop in Memphis and
Nashville along the way to visit friends and family, and hope to end up in
Pigeon Forge sometime during the last week of July.
We still have some packing up to do, but for the most part we are ready to

leave. We have yet our goodbyes to say here, to friends and co-workers, and
In saying goodbye, once again we are hit withthe realitythat, short of
heaven, we may not see some of these folks again-which leads me to think
about our time here. I wonder about the friends we leave behind that do not
know the Lord and I wonder, could we have done more? I am certain we could
have...but our prayer is that the seeds of love and friendship that were
sown in Jesus' name will bear fruit. We may not see the results, at least
not here, but I pray that the seeds will germinate, sprout, and spring to
life! Saying goodbye won't be easy, but we pray that, in all things, Jesus
was honored by our time here. Pray for us.
Once back in the States, we will try and report to our supporting churches
and friends. We also will be seeking direction from God as to how He wants
to use us. We have some ideas and plans, but still are praying and seeking
God's direction. Pray with us in this. For a bit, I will probably
substitute teach in the Sevier County School district, while we get on our
feet and settled back into life in the United States. We will definitely
pursue markets for Cindy's art, probably starting our own business and
establishing a web site, etc.
Through all of this, you have been with us. Through all of our time here,
you have loved us, prayed for us, blessed us in ways that are beyond mere
words. We are grateful for you love and friendship. We are grateful for
your support, through prayer and finances, which lifted our spirits and gave
us joy in sometimes difficult circumstances. But most of all we are
grateful for your love for Jesus. Thank you.
Please be in prayer for the following:
Saying good bye is hard. Pray for our last few days here, that we may be a
blessing to friends, and be blessed by them.
Our travel home. We ask for good connections, sleep on the plane.
Pray for David, who will be at Biola University, for a Missionary Kid
re-entry seminar. Pray that he will learn much, especially about re-entry
into the different culture in the USA. (Michael attended last year and
loved it)
Pray for David, as he gets ready for his first year of college (He will
enter Johnson Bible College this fall)
Pray for our time in Dallas, that we may finish well.
Pray for Keren, as she gets ready to enter Pigeon Forge High School. She
will be a sophomore this year.
Pray for our travels as we make our way to New Braunfels, and then on to
Pigeon Forge.
Pray especially that God use water and nourish and seeds we have planted
here in PNG. Pray that what we have said and done will bear fruit for him,
and whatever chaff we have left behind will be blown away and forgotten.
Pray for the decisions we will be making regarding our future.
Praise God for our last 7 years here.
Praise that we feel that God is directing our steps. Pray that we listen to
him.

Praise that we have a home to go back to. This is a real joy for us.
especially Cindy, who dreams of having "her place" again.
Praise for 3 wonderful children, who are growing up in God's grace, all who
love the Lord. Pray for them as they find their way, as they will
undoubtedly have times of doubt and question, times of uncertainty and fear.
Pray that they will remember that Jesus is with them, even when they don't
always feel it or realize it.
I have attached two small pictures, one of the four of us after graduation,
and one of David and his girlfriend. YuBin Lee. YuBin is from Korea, and a
really neat girl. We grew to love and appreciate her in the short time we
lived at Ukarumpa.

Hello all.
Greetings to all of you. Fall has arrived here in East Tennessee, and along
with it are the beautiful leaves, the chilly winds, and just a different
feeling in the air. We are still enjoying being back, and trying to get
settled into the American lifestyle and culture. I don't know that we will
ever be 100% used to that, but we are enjoying being back.
We are all doing well. I am really enjoying working at Airport Honda, and
have had some success there. We will see if it was just luck, providence or
what, in the days, weeks, and hopefully years to come. The one thing I do
not like are the hours, so we will see if I can maintain the schedule. I
have had many opportunities to share my faith, to pray for others - both
co-workers, and customers alike. Cindy has begun a part-time job as a
medical receptionist at a family clinic near our home. The doctor is a
member of our church (Woodlawn Christian Church), so that has been a
blessing. This is just a stop gap measure...we go off of support in
January, and right now it is tough to make the ends meets. We still plan to
focus on her artwork, but in the meantime, need to pay the bills! I know
all of you know about that. We are so thankful for all of you all...you
have been wonderful in your support of our family. Please be praying for us
come January...it is a scary thing! We are enjoying worshipping and
participating at Woodlawn Christian Church in Knoxville.
The kids are doing well. David and Michael are liking college, and are
doing well (we think! haven't seen a report card yet) They are active in a
lot of things, and I think are finding time to study. Keren really enjoys
her youth group at church, and is singing in the worship team. She does get
frustrated at school. It is still shocking to her to hear what kind of
language folks use. She has been teased about her faith, but also has been
admired for it. So, it is a little tough, and we need to be praying for the
Holy Spirit to give her strength and wisdom at school. She loves to shop,
loves to hang out with her friends after school, so all in all, is settling
in nicely.
We do need to be praying for the work going on in Papua New Guinea. The
branch there has just finished a Peacemaker's seminar, and from all
accounts, really benefited from that. However, the work continues to be
demanding and frustrating, so
please keep the folks there in your prayers. Pray especially for Todd and
Angela Owen. Todd replaced me as director, so I know from experience he
would covet your prayers. We have heard that some of the workshops we were
counting on have been cancelled, but we have also heard good news about more
and more Bible books being published in more language groups. Praise God
for that! Pray that word would not only be published, but implanted in the
hearts and minds of the people groups there.
We love you all and miss you. Please let us hear from you...if you have
questions, or just want to say hi...let us know you are still there. God
Bless you all and thank you for your love and generosity.
Jim, for all of us.
P.S. Attached is a brief historical timeline for the Davis family. I may
have a couple of dates wrong, especially on Cindy's side of things, but I am
sure I will be corrected once they read this. Cindy is not here for me to
ask about some of it.
