left, nursing drin3s. Abo4e
them an old Budweiser cloc3
s2ar3les with garish reds and
blues. 0here is a sim2le table
and two chairs stage right and
the bac3 of the stage is
dar3, with only the hint of an
e5it gi4en by a set of dar3
beads that hang o4er it. Also
to the rear is a raised
2latform and a well lit
micro2hone stand and stool.
"ere the ./$0AR !A1%R sits at
curtain. 0he other, main e5it,
is right. 0he atmos2here of
the 2lace is dead and
,
desolate. 0he three are the
only 4isible 2atrons but as
the 2lay 2rogresses, sounds
come from the bac3 of the
stage, gentle ras2ings that
sound li3e mice. 0his effect
may be achie4ed by hanging
hea4y ob6ects on the o22osite
side of the walls, which
should sim2ly be brushed at
random times, at the
director7s discretion.. 0he
.uitar !layer begins, 2ic3ing
out 8$7m So onesome $ Could
Cry8 with no 4ocals. 0he sound
of the guitar is low and
slowly dies out, along with
the s2ot, as the characters
begin to s2ea3.
Ral2hie is the oldest and most
u2beat of the bunch, but not
by much. "e is at least forty,
and wears an old 09shirt and
faded 6eans. Ma5ine is a wiry
woman with short hair and
sun3en features. She wears a
6eans 6ac3et, old glo4es, and
loose shorts. Finally, Charles
is a rough character, though
he is almost rendered non9
threatening by the des2eration
with which he tries to show
his strength. 0he .uitar
!layer wears a 4est and
whate4er else fits him.
