Hello, my name is __, and I am running for vice president.

Ive attended __ for the past

three years, taking part in band, Interact, AP Science, and theater. In each of these activities, Ive
learned the importance of discipline and time management. More specifically, being percussion
co-captain and assistant director for a one-act developed my ability to work and communicate
effectively with others. Im also incredibly detail-oriented. If theres something to be familiar
with, Ill do my best to know everything about it. All of this, I feel, will be very helpful in taking
on the flexible position of vice president. Earning the privilege of being vice president would
allow me to enact change, for the better, that I would possibly be unable to accomplish
otherwise.
From what Ive seen, there are clear subgroups in NHS. Id like to be able to name, even
just by the first name, all of the NHS members, but I cant. I owe this to a lack of people
branching out. Thus, it is a goal of mine to organize more club bonding events throughout the
year. I would also like to propose forming teams, comprised of a set ratio of randomly selected
seniors to juniors, to take on small projects like working together to find community service
opportunities for NHS, donating specific items, or to put them in competitive games during club
bonding events. This would create tighter bonds within NHS and, ideally, mentor-mentee
relationships between seniors and juniors as they work with peers theyve possibly never seen
before. By the time the next set of juniors is up here making their speeches, itll practically be
unnecessary to announce who they are. In short, I want to see more intermingling of
EVERYONE because it would strengthen the club as a whole and make serving our school and
our community that much more fulfilling.
In running for this position, I hope to give back to the club what its given to me, and
possibly more. Its been drilled into my head that its not about counting the hours and filling up
each column. Its not about the prestige of wearing an NHS shirt. Its about maintaining
scholarship, service, leadership, and character wherever you go, with the shirt or without, doing
community service, or just walking through the halls. I ask that you give me, or rather the most
capable candidate, the privilege of playing a larger role in imparting that knowledge to the next
generation of NHS members. Thank you for your time and consideration.
