Free and Low Cost Events in
Chicago and Environs




Chicago Park District

The Chicago Park District offers
free and low cost summer
programs.

As of May 26, 2014, Portage Park
still has slots open for soccer from
June 19 to August 7 (cost $18),
Swim Club from June 23 to August
1 (cost $75), and basketball from
June 17 to August 5 (cost $18).

Beaches

2014 beach season runs from
Friday, May 23, to Monday,
September 1. Swimming is
permitted when lifeguards are on
duty from 11 AM to 7 PM.

Free Days for Chicago Museums
Without the Kids Museum Passport, you can
visit a number of free attractions or non-
free museums on their free days:
Adler Planetarium: June 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12
Art Institute of Chicago: Free for all Illinois
residents from 5-8 p.m. Thursdays. Kids 13
and under are always free.
Chicago Children's Museum: Free 5-8 p.m.
every Thursday and the first Sunday of
every month for kids 15 and under.
Field Museum: June: 4-5, 9
Museum of Science and Industry: June 1-
6, September 8-12, 15-19, 22-26, 29
Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum:

The Kids Museum Passport allows a
family of four general admission
during regular hours.
A group must include at least one
child under 18 and a maximum of
two adults are admitted with each
pass.

Passes are available for free entrance
to the following museums:

percent off parking for one
vehicle (car level only) with
one child and a maximum of

The 14th annual Movies in the Parks
series kicks off May 29, 2014 and
features more than 250 outdoor
screenings of current and classic
movies in parks across the city.
Bring a picnic basket, blanket, and
your friends and family and enjoy a
movie in the parks. All movies begin
at dusk, weather permitting. Call
