Library Experience
Scholarly Communication Librarian, 2012 - Present
SUNY, Buffalo State College
I set goals and manage projects to fulfill the vision for the librarys scholarly communication
services. This vision began in 2009, when, as chair of the campus Digital Curation Task
Force, I led faculty in gathering data and building consensus for an institutional repository to
secure the colleges digital assets. Based on the task force's recommendations, the E. H. Butler
Library, in conjunction with Buffalo States Computing Services, procured BePress Digital
Commons repository. I set up our digitalcommons.buffalostate.edu site, worked with various
campus bodies to create peer-reviewed journals, electronic theses, archival collections, faculty
publication pages, and copyright guidelines. With the success of this initiative, I became
Buffalo States first Scholarly Communication Librarian. In this role, I supervise library
practicum students from the University at Buffalo, work with administrators from other
departments to properly store campus assets, and help improve faculty accessibility through
scholar.buffalostate.edu sites.

Interlibrary Loan Librarian, 2009 - 2012
SUNY, Buffalo State
I managed the interlibrary loan (ILL) departments staff members, ILLiad system, and
workflow. I monitored operating expenditures and productivity, created annual reports, set
departmental goals, and implemented new policies to improve service. I marketed ILL
services by building a new departmental web page in Drupal and by crafting improved patron
communications. I also expanded services to include just-in-time purchasing through the
acquisitions department and document delivery of held titles through circulation. I enrolled
and represented the library in innovative shared resources consortial initiatives, including a
purchase-on-demand ebook service and a last-copy repository. In my four year tenure as
Interlibrary Loan Librarian, the ILL department registered 900 more users than the previous
four years and fulfilled 6,000 more requests while expanding services at the same time.
Information Systems Librarian, 2007 - 2012
SUNY, Buffalo State
As systems librarian, I managed the integrated library system, Aleph. I created department
goals and objectives. I interfaced with circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, and equipment
loan departments to install, configure and troubleshoot the Aleph client as required. I loaded
patron and bibliographic records into the system, maintained the library OPAC, exported
records into the Summon discovery service, and managed the librarys OCLC profile.
Information Systems Librarian, 2004 - 2007
DYouville College
I designed and maintained the library website and was responsible for the librarys database
subscriptions and proxy server. Database management involved working with vendors to test
products, prepare demonstrations, and negotiate features and pricing. I managed all library
technology, including four Unix-based servers and fifty lab computers. I configured and
maintained the SirsiDynix ILS, the library OPAC, and Atlas ERes server. I managed the
library subnet and all networking in the building.
Note: All positions listed above include reference service duties of at least eight hours per week and
approximately twenty bibliographic instruction sessions per semester .
Previous Professional Experience
Summary: Prior to becoming a librarian in 2004, I worked in print and digital
communications for small companies in Buffalo and New York City. My duties ranged from
prepress and production, to project management, to client relations both internally and
externally.

College Senate Intellectual Foundations Oversight Committee, 2009 - Present
Buffalo State College
As a member of Buffalo States general education (Intellectual Foundations, or IF) oversight
committee, I shared my expertise as an information management specialist. In this capacity,
I created a SharePoint site to organizes the programs documents, including course syllabi,
course proposals, rubrics, and reviews from each department that offers IF courses. This site
made an efficient and thorough program review possible. In addition, as part of the program
review process, I created surveys in Opinio for faculty and staff. These surveys included
complex logic that then produced meaningful data and resulted in a much improved general
education program.
College Senate Curriculum Committee, 2007 - Present
Buffalo State College
As one of three workgroup leaders on the committee, I review new / revised courses and their
narratives, content, outcomes, and assessment methods for consistency and best practice. I
then compile my workgroups comments into a monthly report and present this report to the
larger committee, recommending course acceptance, course rejection, or course revision.
Information Management Oversight and Assessment Committee, 2012 - Present
Buffalo State College
As chair of the committee, I report to the Associate Vice President for Assessment and
Curriculum and work with committee members to create and assess SUNYs information

outcomes in the majors, I work with departments to determine how best to incorporate and
assess these outcomes in their two chosen courses using the rubric that the committee
created.
Digital Content and Curation Task Force, 2009
Buffalo State College
As chair of the committee, I surveyed faculty and campus constituents and researched
solutions for digital asset management. I wrote a report suggesting that the library establish
an Office of Digital Access and Preservation to create policies and procedures and to put in
place systems to make faculty work accessible and college assets secure. The committees
work led to the campus adoption of BePress Digital Commons platform which, through
accessibility and preservation, fulfilled both aspects of our recommendation.
