Using the Recovery Partition preinstalled and hidden to easily restore the system
About the Recovery Partition :
The Recov ery Partition is a space reserv ed on y our hard disk driv e used to restore the operating sy stem, driv ers and utilities installed on y our Eee PC.
( Bef ore using the F9 recov ery, please ensure to connect y our Eee PC to the AC adapter to av oid recov ery f ailure. )
Step 1 : Press repeatedly during boot up to open the screen f or Windows Boot Manager and select Windows Setup to enter the interf ace of Recov ery
Sy stem.
( Please be noticed a single press of the button will not alway s be recognized. )
Step 2 : Please click the Recov ery button to start the sy stem recov ery.
Step 3 : Please click the Recov ery button to start the sy stem recov ery.

About the Support DVD :
The Support DVD includes an image of the operating sy stem, installed on y our sy stem at the f actory. The Support DVD prov ides a comprehensiv e
recov ery solution that quickly restores y our sy stem to its original working state, prov ided that y our sy stem driv e is in good working order. Bef ore using the
Support DVD, copy y our data f iles to f loppy disks or to a network driv e and make a note of any customized conf iguration settings ( such as network
settings ).
Step 1 : Generally, y ou need to disable the Boot Booster f unction in the BIOS settings.
About the Boot Booster
The Boot Booster f unction in BIOS setup helps shorten y our Eee PC boot-up time. Howev er, y ou MUST disable this BIOS item bef ore y ou change
any Eee PC components or perf orm sy stem recov ery f rom the external optical driv e.
1.) Start the Eee PC and press < F2 > repeatedly during boot-up to show the POST screen to enter the BIOS setup.
2.) Mov e cursor to choose "Boot" and disable the "Boot Booster".
3.) Press < F10 > to sav e y our changes and exit.
Step 2 : Connect an external optical driv e to y our Eee PC and insert the Support DVD into the optical driv e
( Sy stem needs to be powered ON )
Step 3 : Press on boot-up and the Please select boot dev ice screen appears. Select USB:XXXXXX ( may be labeled as the ODD brand name ) to boot f rom
the optical driv e.
Step 4 : Press any key to boot f rom the optical driv e.
Step 5 : Af ter the Asus Recov ery CD/DVD window appears, please select where to install a new sy stem :
1.) Recov er sy stem to a partition
This option will delete only the partition y ou select f rom below, allowing y ou to keep other partitions. Please select a partition and click NEXT.
2.) Recov er sy stem to entire HD
This option will delete all partitions f rom y our hard disk driv e and restore the pure OS. Please select and click YES.
( If y ou select Recover system to entire HD, the entire hard disk driv e will be a partition with the pure OS and the F9 recov ery f unction will no longer
exist. Theref ore, we highly recommend that y ou use the F9 recov ery to restore the sy stem. )
Step 6 : Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the recov ery process.
( You will lose all y our data during the sy stem recov ery. Ensure that y ou back up y our important data bef ore recov ering y our sy stem. )
Step 7 : Af ter the sy stem recov ery is completed, eject the Support DVD f rom the optical driv e and click OK to restart the Eee PC.
Step 8 : Setup y our language, time zone, key board, computer name, and user name to enter the Windows OS.
