II. Executive Summary
Our goal is to provide our customers with the same experience of getting a tattoo but
without the commitment. We want young adults to be able to express themselves on their bodies
and be able to try out something new. We understand getting a permanent tattoo can be
extremely intimidating which is why we want to make this experience non painful and not
frightening. We focus on creating a temporary tattoo ink that can be used to satisfy your needs
without changing your skin forever. The tattoo could last between 1 and 3 months on average
based on customer preference. The higher concentration level of the henna solution allows these
temporary tattoos to stay on for the amount of time our customers prefer. There are several
reasons why our new, exciting and interesting services will prosper; first we will focus on quality
and sanitary conditions which our primary research shows are important topics that customers
show concern for.

We are asking for a mere $25 thousand dollars to start up our business to pay for the furniture,
inks, salary, rent and miscellaneous supplies such as gloves, and applicators. We need start up
for the actual supplies since we are starting from nowhere.

III. Products and Services
Our tattoos are temporary and are similar to quality and method of producing them as real
tattoos. They would be applied through a process similar to being written on with a small marker
using a concentrated henna blend in addition to extra steps being taken to ensure the longevity of
our product. The artists will be trained tattoo artists with the same requirements to be a full
fledged artists, such as licences to ensure quality. We would offer any design the consumer
would want just like a regular tattoo shop does.
Our prices would start off at $25-$40 for a small tattoo, $50-$80 for a medium one and
$80-$120 for a large one, depending on level of detail as well. The prices would roughly
resemble half of the prices regular tattoo. Our prices are based on what regular tattoo shops pay,
as well as considering the costs of henna powder, rent, equipment and employees.

The main reason people dont get tattoos is that theyre unsure of what they would like to
be on them forever, and the third most popular reason people dont have them is that it is too
much commitment, so we are addressing 2 of the largest concerns for getting tattooed by making
them temporary. The only difficulty with our product is making sure the ink will stay because
henna is designed to last between 2 to 3 weeks, so we have to make sure our blend lasts as long
as we advertise which could be resolved through experimenting with the proportions of the
recommended ingredients and quantities of each.

IV. Marketing Plan
Economics
The market demand for tattoos is 1 out of 5 Americans. The market size is $1.65 billion
where $2.3 billion dollars is on tattoos and $66 million is on tattoo removal. Some of the barriers
we face are consumer acceptance and brand recognition and unique technology and patents. We
would be a new product so people would be skeptical of the truthfulness of our business. Some
of the solution we have are that we can be extremely transparent with what goes on to them
during the whole process and express that henna happens in many different places already.
Additionally, temporary tattoos arent a thing, ones that at least last 6 months. We could use a
concentrated henna formula specifically focusing on the hennotannic acid inside the leaves that
stain 1 layer into the skin. So making a concentrated blend should make it stay longer and less
likely to face away sooner than desired. Tattoo removal is becoming a lot more popular since
17% of people who get tattooed end up regretting them. The percentage of people with tattoo is
currently 21% which rose from 14-16% since 2006-2008.

Consumers
5
Our age demographic includes anyone between the ages of 13 and 22 years old. Anyone under
18 needs a parent consent form filled out with their parent there before getting anything at the
parlor. We will be providing all genders with tattoos and we will be located in Washington
Heights.

Competition
We will be competing with three different products in the tattoo market. The first product
includes permanent tattoos. With these tattoos you can create your own designs. However, they
are made 2-3 layers into the skin making them permanent and can only be taken off with laser
removal. Additionally, temporary tattoos are pre-made designs that fade within a few days.
Finally, henna allows people to receive a dye on the skin for 2-3 weeks that fades with time.
Our major competitors are, Gunmetal Tattoos on 553 St Nicholas Ave New York, NY
10040, Rotten Apple Tattoos on 1534 St Nicholas Ave New York, NY 10033, Ink Point Tattoo
on 373 Audubon Ave New York, NY 10033 and, Big Apple Tattoo Inc on 373 Audubon Ave
New York, NY 10033.
Our company will provide innovative aspect of non permanent tattoos that stay on for a
specific period of time, quality similar to that of real tattoos that is better than temporary tattoos
and affordable prices that allows customers to receive quality for less than a real tattoo.
However, due to it being temporary, our customers may not trust that we have high quality. Also,
semi temporary tattoos are not something that exists right now because theyre either temporary
or permanent. We also have no start up capital.
Some opportunities we have within the market are that there is a rise in demand for
tattoos, we have a Niche market in tattoo business because most temporary tattoos last up to 3
weeks at most. Our competitors provide increased pain for customers but, we would be painless.
Finally, there is fashion influence based on celebrities getting tattoos changes how young adults
feel about them. However, Tattoos arent completely necessary, and might be threatened by the
economy. Additionally, Henna is a type of temporary tattoo, more of a dye on the skin that stays
on for a few weeks, might be competitive because demand in market for henna has increased.

Strategy
We will promote our business using advertisment around the neighborhood such as fliers
in local stores, creating pages on popular social media networks such as Twitter, Facebook,
Instagram and Tumblr in order to appeal to our intended demographic. We will also create a
website for Temp Tattz so potential customers can understand our policies, our employees and
prices without coming to the shop directly. With this website will be an email so they can contact
us with any questions they want answered. We want our customers to see us as a business that
can provide them with temporary tattoos that are created in a clean environment while focusing
on the quality they will receive.
We need $25,000 to create our business but we are asking for $6,250 each from 4
investors and we will pay the rest of the money using loans. The price of tattoos will depend on
the level of detail. For small tattoos we will charge between $25 and $40, medium sized tattoos
will be between $50 and $80 and large tattoos will be between $90 and $120.
We will be located in Washington Heights on St Nicholas which is a busy street in this
neighborhood. Being in an area where very few tattoo parlors are will be beneficial because we
will be the only ones providing a new way to receive tattoos where young adults usually cannot
afford to receive them.

V. Operation Plan
Production:
Having trained and licensed tattoo artists will ensure that the quality of our temporary
tattoos stays the same across the board. We will have the manager examine each to make sure
that the quality is kept. They must also keep a record of each tattoo done along with pictures of
each. We will have a phone service at the parlor so that customers can call to schedule
appointments and ask questions. We will also set up an email for any questions on price, types of
tattoos and any other questions they may have. In order to meet the demand, with 500 grams (1.1
pounds) of henna, we could ideally make around 2200 small tattoos. We will be buying henna
dye in bulk as well to meet the demand.

Location:
We want to use a space that is 550 SF where the rental rate is $6.36 /SF/Month or $3,498
a month for retail. We will be open 24 hours Monday through Saturday and our employees will
work in shifts.

Legal Environment:
A Tattoo License is required for a tattoo artist to work in New York City. The license
ensures that infectious diseases are prevented and controlled. The license lasts two years and
becomes void at the end of the month that the tattoo artist applied for it.
There are specific regulations tattoo parlors need to follow in order to keep their
customers safe. These regulations are that every artist must wash their hands before tattooing and
uses clean gloves. They must also disinfect the skin to be tattooed, use a single-use, disposable
razor to shave the skin to be tattooed, if needed, use single-use sterile needles and tubes and
single-use inks and cover the tattooed skin with a bandage and provides aftercare instructions.

Personnel:
We are planning to hire 5 tattoo artists that have worked in professional settings for 2 or
more years. We will also hire one manager that has 7 or more years of experience in working in a
professional tattoo parlor. Each employee will have to take a three hour Infection Control Course
and Infection Control Exam in order to receive their license and get an 80% show they know
how to truly treat infections in our parlor to work for us. They will also have to send in a resume
showing they have worked at at least 1 tattoo parlor and havent had any complications with
customers before. We will have a set salary of $400 a week if they work 4-5 hours a day.
