How would you solve a technical issue?

When I need to solve a problem, I generally start by writing down as many ideas as I can
think of about possible causes. Next I look for relationships among causes so I can group
together symptoms of bigger problems. Usually, after I study these groups of problems, the
real cause then becomes really apparent."
Tell me about yourself
Well i was born in anberra actually, lived there for approximately !" years. I received my
first computer at the age of !# and ever since then i$ve pretty much fallen in love with
computers. When I$ve firstly discovered a site known as whirlpool forums i$ve been teaching
myself and keeping myself up to date with technology. In high school my favourite sub%ect
was information processing technology hence it wasn$t a hard decision that I found myself to
be studying computer systems engineering. &t the moment in my spare time I play rugby
league, hanging out with friends, i go to the gym approximately # times a week to help me
stay alert, active and fit and of course finally i tend to see whats going on at whirlpool
forums.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
In five years I hope to be working with an employer in a position that has more responsibility,
which enables me to utili'e my talents and work closely with my teammates in solving
important issues and problems. I see myself as taking on new exciting challenges in a
friendly environment and hopefully this will be with I().
Describe a time where youve experienced difficulty in teamwork
*ne of my team members during a +

year pro%ect was involved in a pretty horrific car
accident, during the mid to final stages of the pro%ect. I took the liberty to step up to the plate
and was prepared to take on the additional work. ,he reason why I did this was cause I am
!--. sure that he would have done the same for me and from this experience I$ve learnt
that it is extremely important to have that kind of trust with your team members. /ou could
say that I pretty much treat the members of any group that I$m involved in as family.
Describe a lesson learnt in teamwork
0ince I currently am pretty active with sports, in particularly team sports i$ve always learnt to
watch out for the other guy. If you do, he1ll cover you when you need him to. I1ve applied that
same principle in all my team groups no matter whether it$d be sport or work related.
What are some of your weaknesses?
I hate to admit this but I am really terrible with anything that involves memorising. In
university when I would study for an exam, I tend to understand the problem and solve it
rather than memorising cause frankly I have a memory of a gold fish. 0ince this is more of a
problem solving role rather than a memorising role, lets %ust say that i am glad.
Do you know what role you are applying for?
2rom my understanding of the role, I$ll assist the current I3,I0 team in supporting an
established product with a large client base. ,his role is responsible for developing and
maintaining code, and integrating software components into a fully functional software
system, ensuring that all deliverables are of high 4uality.

Why do you want to work for I!?
I$ve always liked computers ever since the age of !# where I$ve received my first computer.
,herefore I am completely cra'y about computers and honestly who better to work for than
the company that created the very first personal computer in history. I feel that as a young
talented individual, I can utili'e my skills that I have gained at university and put it into
practice in the real world and hopefully make a difference on the world with better
technology, I strongly believe that I() can help me achieve these goals.
Why are you interested in our graduate program?
,his is not only an exceptional opportunity that the I() graduate program is offering, but this
graduate program is a place where my 4ualifications and skills gained from university can
really make a difference for the company and hopefully the world. ,he various roles
exposed that is offered from by the graduate program, I strongly believe will let me explore
all aspects of I, in particularly looking forward to the I, specialist role, the solutions output,
design and configuration, hardware and software integration which is what my degree is
about and also have been 4uite successful as a business analyst in a university pro%ect. I
have heard that I()$s information technology and engineering division are really passionate
in their line of work, thus I absolutely strongly believe that I also belong there and ultimately
will make an impact.
What can you bring to the company?
&s a young enthusiastic person I can bring more life to the team, contribute fresh ideas and
utili'e my skills in a fashion that my team and myself can be proud of. I would like to utili'e
my experiences gained from previous companies such as testing phases, design phases
and professional team work gained from being in a top tier professional gaming team and
ultimately not only utili'e it in I() but no doubt to also further enhance and develop it as I
go.
Not to get too technical but one of the re4uirements that you$ve listed is that you prefer
knowledge in multi5threaded programming and networking, in my final years of study and my
industrial affiliates pro%ect I have looked into it to some detail and hopefully share and utili'e
some of my experiences into some of the pro%ects.

6uring my final year pro%ect, the problem presented to me was to navigate a simple motor
via programming through a microcontroller. In control systems I have learnt the ways of
fu''y logic, I have used the fu''y logic methodlogies and implemented it into the solution to
drive the motor. 2u''y logic was a simple yet effective solution I1ve used to overcome the
problem on the most simple yet most effective way on navigating a motor.
