High quality oil, water and solids separators

for responsible ecology.

Domestic knowledge and technology.
Good for us and our environment.
FOR MARINAS AND WORKSHOPS
Marinas are beautiful decorations of coastal cities, where powerboats and even
more attractive sailing boats are berthed, and resting on clear blue water. The
scene is even more romantic when powerboats are speeding and sailboats are
sailing like white butterflies, while the crews enjoy the romantic scenery. The
people working in marinas, are taking care of them, ensure this allure and
romanticism. Unfortunately, marinas do not have only a romantic side, but in the
process of maintenance and repair of these elegant vessels, the waste product
like waste oil, waste paints, waste plastic solids and heavy metals from protective
coatings are generated. All these waste materials pollute the water and destroys
the natural environment and sea life. The managements of marinas are aware of
these dangers and try to prevent the pollution of the marine environment, but with
old and inappropriate technology this is very difficult.
PAVAN EKOLOGIJA has developed very efficient technological solutions for the
purification of waste and rain waste water using highly efficient over ground and
under ground PAVAN MASTER-PACK separators which purify waste water, in
accordance with European regulations, and the purified waste water can be
released directly into the sea. These highly efficient separators can be also used
for the purification of polluted rain wasted water that accumulates on open
surfaces in marinas, such as parking spots for boats, cars parking lots, piers, etc.
The highly efficient separator with additional ultra filtration is used to purify waste
water in workshops, washing facilities, repair and maintenance shops and boat
painting shops. Waste water contaminated with oil, grease, solids and various
toxic substances and heavy metals is purified and can be discharged into the
natural environment of the sea or it can be reused as technological and process
water for various uses.

THE USABILITY OF SEPARATORS
PAVAN EKOLOGIJA d.o.o. was established with the purpose of bringing to the
demanding market, high quality and high e cient gravitational self-cleaning
separators to separate oil, grease and solids from industrial, technological waste water.
HIGHLY EFFICIENT PAVAN MASTER-PACK SEPARATORS are designed according to
our own patents and technology, which is meeting the strictest international standards
EN 1858. UL 42 and API 421. Installation and use of the highly e cient MASTER-PACK
SEPARATORS manufactured by PAVAN EKOLOGIJA d.o.o. is the most economical and
the safest solution for waste water treatment of industrial and rain waste water. Waste
water, treated with this method, can be discharged directly into the natural
environment or to the sewage system. A ordable price and simple maintenance are
two more reasons to use our separators, which do not require expensive electricity,
expensive chemicals, expensive biological substances and expensive maintenance.
The main users and sites, where highly e cient PAVAN MASTER-PACK
SEPARATORS or other types of separators with equal or better characteristics should
be used are: taverns, restaurants, hotels, crude oil land lls and the surrounding area, oil
re neries, oil products manufacturers, warehouses and waste sites for oil products,
transporters for oil products, gas stations, harbors, ships, marinas, roads, highways,
airports, railway stations, car washes, repair shops, garages and larger car parking lots,
mechanical workshops, electrical power stations, transformer, manufacturers of metal
and plastic products, foundries, mines, quarries, land lls, military stations and many
others. Old models of gravity separators without or with ine cient small coalescers are
installed at the majority of those sites. It is unacceptable that these separators are still
installed into new projects. This kind of separators cannot purify the waste water, which
was polluted with oil, grease and solids, according to the required European norms of
10 milligrams of oil per liter of water or to oil droplets of 40 microns. Installation of old
models of gravity separators is a missed and dangerous investment for the natural
environment.
A number of older, technologically outdated separators could be improved by installing
in highly e cient PAVAN COALESCER with suitable ba es. Years of experience of
PAVAN PRODUCT on international markets have help us to develop separators, which
are capable of purifying the waste water polluted with oil, greasy and solids according
the European standards. PAVAN SEPARATORS are simple for maintenance and service.
We will be happy to respond to your call and help you solve your problems with waste
waters.
SEPARATORS WITHOUT LARGE EFFICIENT COALESCERS ARE LIKE CARS WITHOUT
ENGINES.
1
OPERATION OF THE HIGHLY EFFICIENT
GRAVITATIONAL PAVAN MASTER-PACK OIL,
GREASE, WATER AND SOLIDS SEPARATOR
Waste water contaminated with oil, grease and solids runs into the separator tank
9 through the waste water inlet valve 1. The diffuser 2 attached to the front side of
the separator tank 9 changes the direction and velocity of the waste water flow. In
the inlet section of the separator in front of the coalescer 4 rough separation of oil,
grease and solids is performed. Separators without an efficient coalescer
implement only a rough separation up to 150 microns of droplets, according EU
norm should be purified to the size of oil droplets up to 40 microns. During the
process of rough separation the larger droplets of oil and grease rise to the water
surface, and the large solids sink to the tapered bottom of the separator tank 9.
The flow of waste water continues through the corresponding perforated baffle 3.

== 0,29
O0,30 + 9
0,675 dm2
9.3 dm
P = the surface area of flow unit in the coalescer
O = the circumference of the flow unit in the coalescer
The Reynolds number RE = 129 is very good, and it proves a calm flow of waste
water in the coalescer.
The calculation of the REYNOLDS number is the second important factor for
proving the efficiency of the PAVAN MASTER-PACK separator.
A slow and evenly distributed flow of waste water runs into the highly efficient
coalescer 4 containing stainless steel plates installed in the frame at an angle of
50. This allows oil and grease droplets to coalesce on the lower plate surfaces to
a larger drops and then rise to the upper edge of the plate and from there float to
the water surface, as shown by arrows 21. Smaller solids fall on the upper plate
surfaces and from there sink to the tapered bottom of the separator tank.
Oil, grease and solids fine separation is carried out in the coalescer 4 according to
the STOCK'S Law. The purified waste water in coalescer 4 flows out from the
separator guided by oil baffle 10 and lower baffle 22 toward the adjustable device
7 and the outlet valve 20. The old separators without an efficient coalescer
perform only a rough oil, grease separation, making them inefficient, because
waste water is purified much lower than is allowed by current European norms.
The PAVANs oil, grease, water, and solids separators are five times more
efficient than old separators without coalescer.
OIL, GREASE AND SOLIDS REMOVAL FROM THEHIGHLY EFFICIENT
SEPARATOR.
The removal of oil and grease collected on the water surface in the separator is
carried out in two ways. The first method is the automatic adjustment of oil and
grease removal from the separator.
With the adjustable device 7 we can set the operating water level 5 millimeters
below the oil collecting container 6. This allows an approximately 5 millimeters
thick oil, grease layer floating on the water surface. All the subsequently collected
oil and grease will automatically flow from the collecting container 6 to the oil and
grease reservoir 5 at the rear part of the separator. Oil and grease from reservoir
5 are discharged into the outer container through valve 19.
The second way of oil and grease removal from the separator consists of
monitoring the amount of collected oil and grease on the water surface through
opening flap 17 on the cover 19. When thicker oil and grease layer floats on the
water surface, water level is manually adjusted with the water level adjustable
device 7. The water level in the separator rises and the collected oil and grease
are discharged through the collecting container 6 to the oil and grease reservoir 5.
When all the collected floating oil and grease is discharged, the water level returns
to its starting position, and the highly efficient
PAVAN MASTER-PACK SEPARATOR is ready for reuse.

CLEANING THE COALESCER AND REMOVING SOLIDS AND MUD FROM
THE SEPARATOR.
VR is the same as the Mhd or the minimal lifting rise velocity of small oil droplets, which
was calculated before.
The above equation is used to calculate the diameter of small oil droplets, which will be
successfully separated by the e cient PAVAN MASTER-PACK coalescer.
The coalescer 4 and the separator tank 9 are occasionally cleaned by closing the
waste water intake valve 1. The coalescer 4 is lifted up and the plate and the
separator tank are then rinsed with a jet of hot water.
Solids and mud are discharged from separator tank 9 through the discharge
valves 11 into the external container. The collected oil and grease in reservoir 5
are discharged through the outlet oil and grease valve 19. The highly efficient
separator is prepared for reuse by opening the intake waste water valve 1 waste
water level is rising to the operating level. If an additional water level regulation is
necessary, this can be done using the adjustable device 7.
THIS CALCULATION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR FOR PROVING THE OIL
SEPARATION EFFICIENCY OF THE SEPARATOR.
D=

== 0,0040cm = 40 microns
Gx ( v o )981 x 0,18
D = 40 microns or substituted with the amount of oil left in the puri ed water is 8
milligrams per lliter
Waste water, puri ed in such a way, can be discharged into the sewage system or
directly into the natural environment.
It is a well known fact that the world standards for puri cation of waste water are
becoming stricter and that polluted water will have to be puri ed better than it is today.
The use of PAVAN MASTER-PACK separators is an investment into the future, since they
purify the waste water a lot better than required by current standards. All old and
ine cient separators in use today will have to be updates to increase their e ciency, or
replaced with new separators

Ultra filtration is used for further purification of waste water that was purified
in the highly efficient PAVAN MASTER-PACK separator, especially for the
purification of emulsion substances, such as PCB detergents, pesticides,
bacteria, heavy metals and many other contaminants.
A very successful process is the combination of waste water purification in
the highly efficient PAVAN MASTER-PACK separators as the first stage
and ultra filtration of this water as the second stage. Water purified in this
manner can be reused as recycled water in marinas, car washing facilities,
dry cleaners and so many other places.

OPERATION OF THE PROGRAMMED FILTRATION
DEVICE FOR MICROFILTRATION OF ALREADY PURIFIED WATER IN THE
PAVAN MASTER-PACK SEPARATOR
The purified water in the PAVAN MASTER-PACK separator flows into the ultra
filtration device through pipe 1 into the centrifugal pump 2 and from pump 2
through pipe 3 into the programmed valves 4 and into the ultra filters 5. From the
ultra filters 5 the purified water flows through the programmed valve 6 into the
outlet pipe 7 and outlet valve 8 into the collecting reservoir. The ultra filter 5 is
cleaned by the reverse flow of purified water through filter 5. This is achieved by
suitable programming of the opening and closing of the automatic valve 6 and two
valves 11, so that the clean water washes the membranes in the ultra filters 5. The
contaminated water flows out through the outlet silt valves 11 and outlet pipe 12
into the separator 15. The cleaning process of membranes in micro filters 5 is
carried out automatically.
