Im thinking I will be dolocation Photography because with location photography you can get different type of scenes. I chose to do different scenes because they are based in a different area with different weather. Also there are different places I can visit. I will use Photomatix to make it more fascinating and to give it a better quality. Using Photomatix gives you a sharper image.
HDR Car Photography. These are my examples which I want to progress during this project. I chose cars and motorbikes because Im interested in them and it will be interesting for me to go out and take some good shots. I think its a good idea because I will take shots of cars and motorbikes. I than can go on Photomatix and HDR the image when I HDR the image the Photomatix software will make it stand out more. It will also make the colours more interesting with a lot of detail. The HDR program will improve the image because the camera wont give it an effect like the program I will be using.
When I uploaded the image on Photomatix this was the first image that was edited and started to improve the image more because it wasnt very interested and never reached the level I wanted it. So I saved the image and edited it a couple of times. When I edited the first example I changed quite a few things such as the contrast of the photograph which is now 10.0 this gave it a lighter effect. I also changed the black point which was changed to 0.097% which gave some parts in the photograph a shadow. As you can see on my second attempt I thought it was a good photo. But when I asked a couple of people I know they said I can improve the image by working more on the photo and editing it more. I improved the second image by making the scene darker because in the first image it was lighter. The first image looks like a painting because it has bold colours whereas the second image is less bold and looks like its been taken using a camera, which makes it look more natural. The techniques I used to edit the second sample was the black point which I used a lot in this sample because I wanted to compare which photograph looked better. First example Second example After Before The before image was the photograph that I took using the camera, however it needed a lot of improving. So I used Photomatix to edit the image and make it look more interesting and have a better quality and scene. I chose my final image out of my other two because people in my class said it was a really good image and so I agreed on keeping that image. I really liked it because it looked outstanding and included a lot of detail. The construction site is very unique and has its own look which I think really fascinates me and grabs my attention because it is totally different to other building I have seen. To change my before image I used various techniques One thing I changed about my image was the strength of the details but also made it balance, so I made the scene stand out but made it look natural as well. I also changed the colour saturation to 97 which gave the image a darker effect. The lighting effect of my image was medium which meant it wasnt too light neither too dark. The detail contrast is 8.0 which means you can see the detail in the background but its not zoomed into it. Print screen second image Print screen first image
When I uploaded the first image onto Photomatix I edited it and started to make changes to it such as giving it a bold outline. However I still didnt like the way I edited the image. So I saved the image and edited it more. As you can see on my second attempt I liked the image. When I asked a few peers in my class and they thought it could do with a bit more work so this meant it wasnt as good as other images I produced. I improved the second image by making the image less bold and clearer. The first image doesnt look as realistic as the second image, whereas the second image looks like an actual photo. For the first image I first used Photomatix but I didnt like it so I used Photoshop. Photoshop gave it a better looking quality. My final image was a really good image because it had some character which made it really stand out and made it look professionally done. I also asked my class if they liked the final image and they all agreed on it some said it looks very different to the actual building. This made me think that I can edit images without making them look unrealistic. I really liked the building because it is very interesting and very beautiful to go in and look at. It also glows with colour when its dark. I changed my final image a lot from my first image, I used different tools on Photoshop to change the image. I changed the radius to 64.0 px which made it look clearer. I added some blur to it. Opacity was 100% and the amount was 283 which made it a sharper image. This is the photograph I started to edit. I didnt really like the original image as it didnt look very fascinating so I thought if I edited it then it will look much more fascinating. The different techniques I used for this photograph were making the photographs lighting surreal which meant it looked unreal, I also the detail contrast is 10.0 which is the highest detail contrast on Photomatix, I did 10.0 for detail because I wanted the detail of the landscape to stand out and look more fascinating as I said it would look. I didnt pick this photograph for my final photo because I didnt like the outlining of it as it looked too bold. This is my final photograph. This is the last photo I edited. I edited it further into this photo because I didnt like the before photo. I edited this photo on Photoshop because Photomatix brought too much outline to the photos and I didnt like that because it made some parts stand out more than other parts. The techniques I used for this photo were radius which I changed to 187px which made it look clear and didnt make it look blurry. The shadow was changed to 0 which meant there was no shadow at all in the photograph which I really liked because I didnt want any shadow at all. This is the original image took from the Selfridges bridge in the city centre. I took this photo because I liked the view from the top. I also thought when it comes to editing it I can edit it and make it look much more interesting. I took this in the afternoon because I wanted a natural sky light without too much sun in the photo. Print screen image 2 editing Print screen image 1 editing Bracketing Bracketing is when you take a photo more than once and use it to do different setting for different exposures. Say for instance you take a photo of a bike, you will need to take three different shots of the bike. The first short will be -2EV. The second shot will be Optimal Exposure. And the third shot will be +2EV. Exposure backing is a technique which is used for taking several images and varying exposures. A camera can change exposure in different ways. When it comes to HDR photography its important that exposures are controlled by shutter speed whilst keeping the aperture and ISO sensitivity right. The amount of bracketed shots in the EB camera the functionality of the shots are important. Many cameras only allow three shots with 1 EV interval.
-2EV Optimal Exposure +2EV Example of bracketing
Final Image After taking three shots of the motorbike I had to open the image up on Photomatix and pick the three good exposures of bracketing. When I do this the software groups the images and puts it as one image. After it is grouped I edited the image. What I changed about the original image was the colour saturation which is now changed to 62. The strength of the image is now 81. The lighting adjustments is now 0.0. I also changed the luminosity which is now 0.0. The luminosity changed the image by adding a little bit of yellow lighting to it which made it look a little bright. I really liked this image because the motorbike is transparent and has a good light reflection such as the screen of the motorbike. Also the colour of the motorbike is really nice because it stands out and is very bold and looks shiny which means its very clean and clear. Print screen finale bracketing image.
Fashion High key I chose this image because I was inspired by another image that I saw on Google images. It gave me a thought that I can make it look similar to the one that I saw. The techniques I used was changing the input levels which gave the image a white point meaning it left half the image bright and the other half normal. I chose this image because I thought I can make it look outstanding it and give it a better look. I took this photograph because I thought I would change my photos and do something about fashion which is something I am really interested in. For this image I changed the input levels which gave my photograph bright parts which made my photo look professional. I also changed the output levels which gave my photograph a bit of shade and made it look more natural rather than edited. This is the image that inspired me to take when I was researching for high key images. It caught my eyes as I saw it. I thought to myself I have never done an image for animals so I go lets have a try and see what we get. I come up with a really good image at the end of the day. The colour on this is has mostly light colours white background with a white cat which makes it a high key image.
Low key This is an image that inspired me to create my own. I really liked it because it summarized how much I like cars. I was motivated to create my own image like this one which is what I did. Also I liked the the colours on this image. The way the car has a light colour and the background is full black. That makes the car stand out more. I chose this image because I was inspired by the photo below. It gave me a thought that I can create my image the same as the one below but put in my own techniques and change a few things. The techniques I used was changing the input levels which gave and the stripes in white. I chose this image because I thought I can make it look outstanding it and give it a better look.
This is an image that inspired me to create my own. I really liked it because I liked the dark back background with a bit of lighting shade coming from the background. I also liked the face expression the model was giving. This image really caught my eyes so I thought I will try a create on just like it with the same background. This is my self portrait image the below image inspired me to create an image like this. I gave my image bit of lighting because I thought I can show my light side of life and I used a dark side on my image because they is always a dark side of life too. I had to edit the image on Photoshop because it had to much lighting. It had too much lighting because the light I used in the studio I never sorted it out before taking the shot. So when I finish taking the shot I opened the image on Photoshop and I had to change the levels. I had to less the white point and I had to add more black by dragging the black point to 53%. Photographers Alan Fullmer: Alan Fullmer is a HDR photographer who likes to take photos of colourful landscapes. Alan has a collection of inspiring HDR photographs which consist of buildings, bridges, landscapes. Alan uses wide-angle lens to catch the entire landscape. He likes to blend his exposures and add colour and emphasis the image. He also likes to enhance the contrast between the natural colours and the added colours. The image below that Alan has created uses good effects of HDR. It shows how well he has blended the black white which gives it a punchy look. He has added detail to the sky in the photo which is natural and doesnt distract the rest of the image. He has also added some visual faultiness which we often see in other HDR photographs. So it tells us that Alan is a really good HDR photographer and puts time and effort into his photographs and tries to make them look as realistic as possible.
Robert Hansen: Robert Hansen is a HDR photographer who liked to specialise constructions, small products and newspaper drawing. His construction photos have won many awards in California. Roberts art is part of different commercial and museum assortments mainly based in United States, Germany and Mexico. Robert discovered different techniques of processing which included applications of oil dye and enlarged platinum printings. This makes his photos unique.
