Blogs as a way of communications in anthropology

In the wake of new century, the ability for people to get involved and to express their opinions
has become one of the main purposes of communications via internet. Communication is
getting easier and easier and so the means of communications are upgrading.
There are lots of different ways of communications. Most of them are used for one-on-one
communications. Regular mail and phone are typically used for one-on-one communication.
Newspapers and radio are older forms of one-to-many communication. Over the past decade,
blogs arrived on the scene and they've had huge success as a form of one-to-many
communication. The reason for this is our need for feedback. Blogs made feedback possible.
Anyone can comment on a post.
There are many perks of the blogs. For instance, blogs software can easily be installed and at
very low cost, aiming to provide a knowledge sharing forum. Blogs can be easily built-in to
existing web. The use of blog can be measured with the help of traffic, visitors activities, and
by feedback. Blogging is a form of self expression, a discussion catalyst and an outlet for
writers to take ownership of their comments, consider the audience to which they are
addressing thereby promoting intelligent decisions of language, research and expression.
The use of blog has been increasing day by day. Blogs use is mainly noticeable for marketing
purposes. Nevertheless, it is used to share latest updates on political matters, educational
purposes, and on any changing scenario of the world.
In wish to make connections across all major subfields of anthropology, many anthropologists
had decided to use as their tool, internets youngest addition- blog. This gave opportunity for
many undergraduates and graduates to be introduced to new theories, points of view and new
ways of learning outside of classrooms.
Anthropology Blogs are a way to understand what anthropology is. Thanks to the blogging,
anthropologys profile among the general public has been increased.
Anthropology boasts rich and varied blogs. Older anthropology blogs feature deep content
and now have a history of stimulating commentary. Newer ones have joined the field,
demonstrating the importance of the online form. There are blogs from each of
anthropologys four fields and at the intersections of biology, culture, archaeology, and
language, as well as blogs concentrating on applied anthropology.
There are currently over thousand anthropology blogs. Not all of them are reliable. Number
one for a Google search on anthropology blogs is a blog called Antropologi.info. This is
mostly socio-cultural themed blog with an emphasis on media and technology.
There are many unanswered questions when it comes to blogs. One of them is what role
should blogging play as a medium for professional anthropologists to interact with each
other? It certainly gives an opportunity for discussion of topics, debates in open format, quick
turnaround and input, and makes disciplinary conversations open to interdisciplinary
contributions. It develops collaboration. It is a new kind of written production, a novel form
of analysis, ethnographic materials.
But when it comes to internet in general we must keep our guard up. Not all the information
we found are scientifically relevant. We also have to keep in mind that a blog is an
opportunity for an individual to spread his or hers peas of mind, and that opinion doesnt have
to be completely anthropological.
