Origin ( ,Qyun) (part 1)
was first started in 1931 by Tai
Shuangqiu and Cheng Qibao on June 6th, but
the Kuomintang government did not admitted it
until later. In 1939, was officially set on
August 28th, also known as Confucius birthday,
which Taiwan decided to keep that date.
was later set on May 1st in 1951 by the Ministry
of Education and All-China Federation of Trade
Unions and it was also set purposefully on
Labor Day so it doesnt attract too much
attention.
Origin ( ,Qyun) (Part 2)
On January 1st, 1985, Professor Wang Zikun
and other teachers from the Beijing Normal
University set on September 10th.
The reason being on September 10th was
because they thought it would be good since it
was also the start of the fall semester in China
s schools. On September 5th, the State Council
wants to change to Confucius's birthday
for some reason, but we dont know if this draft
is adopted yet or not. There is also no solar or
lunar date.
Traditions ( ,Chuntng)
There are not really any taboos on other
than messing with your teachers? There are
too many traditions done on since
is unique in many schools in China. But
some examples are: preparing cards for
teachers, having students entertain their
teachers by dancing and singing songs, sport
activities, and a lot more! Some parents even
give teachers gifts (due to contrary beliefs,
teachers judge students based on how they do
in school, not gifts).
Modern Day Evolution ( ,
Xindi tin ynjn)
Teachers Day was first established on June 6th
during the 1930s. The holiday was then shifted to
May 1st during the late 1940s, before finally being
situated on September 10th during the 1980s. As of
September 5th, 2013, the Chinese government is
attempting to change the holiday once again to
September 28th. (As it is the birthdate of Confucius)
Taiwan originally celebrated Teachers Day during
the 1940s on August 27th with the assumption that
that was Confuciuss birthday, but was changed to
September 28th during the 1950s to accommodate
the Gregorian calendar.
Modern Day Evolution Pt. 2(
, Xindi tin ynjn)
Teachers day has evolved from a day of
simple teacher appreciation to a day in which
parents would gift their childs teacher with
many luxurious gifts (eg: designer bags,
cosmetics, gift cards) in attempt to gain their
child favor. Eventually, there was so many
forms of bribery developing that the Shanghai
Education Commission had to implement a
anti-bribery regulation that prohibits teachers
from accepting money or gifts from students
and their parents.
Stories? ( , Gsh)

Cultural Significance ( ,
