Introducing Kim Lightings LED Collection
KIM LIGHTING 1
Until now, the low power consumption and limited output of early generation light emitting diodes were
typically only applied for observable decorative or indicative uses, capitalizing on the rainbow hues and
programming abilities that are advantageous for entertainment venues, traffic signals, signage, and ornamental
elements. In fact, it was often said, LEDs are meant to be seen, not seen by, however, with the recent
development of new super-bright white diodes and other performance improvements, the acceptability of
LEDs for mainstream uses has grown exponentially.
Kim Lighting has been at the innovation forefront of this new technology, and for years has worked closely
with LED developers to influence its expansion into a viable and attractive alternative for lighting surfaces and
landscapes. Kim Lighting now offers an extensive series of tasteful, architecturally relevant shapes and forms
with tested Kim-quality and performance, specifically engineered for the newest LED advances. Kim Lighting
has now determined that LEDs have arrived, are ready for real-life outdoor applications, and that no one else
can match the style, quality, breadth, and performance of Kim Lightings new LED collection.

New High-Brightness White LEDs
LEDs are inherently monochromatic as they use
electrically charged colored phosphors to generate
visible light.Therefore, it was natural to see red, green,
and yellow diodes enter the market early. However,
the challenge in using LEDs for general illumination
required development of very bright, high quality white
light in various consistent color temperatures.
Advanced breakthroughs of blue LEDs eventually led to
the development of true white light variants that are
now bright enough and powerful enough at the right
color temperatures to achieve effective accent and
general illumination.
Affordable Advantages
Until recently, Solid State Lighting devices were too
expensive for most lighting applications because they are
built from advanced semiconductor materials.The prices
of these components have significantly declined, making
LEDs a more cost-effective solution for a wider range of
applications.While they still may be slightly more
expensive than traditional sources up front, their lower
operating and maintenance costs result in fast payback,
and an annuity that provides even more returns for years
to come. In the future, Kim Lighting expects LEDs will
play an even more important role in the world of lighting,
ecology, and technology.

LED Technology
Rugged and Reliable
LED technology offers several advantages over conventional sources such as incandescent or fluorescent. First,
LEDs offer much longer life and endurance as they do not employ breakable heated filaments or gas filled glass
enclosures to generate illumination. LEDs are less affected by ambient temperatures, and can perform at their peak
in harsh conditions. Also, their compact circuit board construction and small plastic enclosure makes them much
more durable for rugged outdoor installations. Since the longer life of LEDs demand fixtures that stand the test of
time, Kim quality and LEDs are a perfect combination.
Efficiency LEaDer
A primary advantage of new LED technology is efficiency.
Conventional light-emitting processes involve generating
excess heat or exciting gasses to obtain effective light
levels.These processes waste significant energy because a
huge portion of input electricity is not directed toward
producing visible light. LEDs, however, employ a non-toxic
chemical interaction that generates very little heat so a
much higher percentage of the electrical demand is
utilized toward light production, which cuts down on
overall power consumption considerably.
Small Diodes Pack A Lot of Power
Accepted outdoor lighting techniques suggest smaller is better as long as performance is not compromised.
Compact LED arrays now generate comparable lumens per watt compared to traditional sources, and can be easily
engineered into smaller luminaire envelopes perfect for landscape and structural illumination. Matching LEDs with
this new series of aisle, in-grade, accent, wall wash, and path luminaires represents a unique fusion of aesthetics,
scale, quality, and performance that only Kim Lighting could offer.
Capitalizing on the Newest SSL Technology
The latest advances in LED technology, or Solid State Lighting, have evolved a once niche, chromatic, inadequate
device into, now, a powerful, practical, directional source for effective accent and general illumination. Where once
only halogen or fluorescent lamps could provide the lumen output, color rendering, and efficacy for certain
applications, LEDs are now available with these important attributes, as well as added benefits of very long life, low
heat generation, and durability never before combined in any other source.

Offered in round and rectangular faceplate designs, these rugged pre-lamped fixtures are ready to install
right out of the box and are ADA compliant for high traffic areas requiring continuous, abundant, and
effective egress illumination.
SPECIFICATIONS
HOUSING: Die-cast low copper alloy (<0.6% Cu)
aluminum with clear anodized finish. Two K" NPT in
sides. Housing mounts into concrete, brick, or
masonry (non-combustible materials). Internal splice
area provided behind lamp plate.
LENS FRAME: Die-cast aluminum, with silicone gasket,
attaches to housing with two captive 10-32 stainless
steel, hex socket cap screws.
LENS: Tempered prismatic glass with silicone gasket,
concealed above lens frame opening.
FINISH: On lens frame only, Super TGIC thermoset
polyester powder coat paint, 2.5 mil nominal
thickness, applied over a titanated zirconium

answers the call with a new series of aisle and step luminaires specifically designed for low maintenance,
low power consumption, and low-profile aesthetics.

Consistency and reliability for in-grade fixtures is critical due to their inherent inaccessibility and often
high-profile placement. LEDs are ideal for ground mounted up-lights offering 50,000+ hours lamp life, low
heat output, rugged durability, and efficiency, and now, powerful enough to illuminate monuments, trees,
and architectural elements just as well as traditional sources. Specify LTV71 with natural brass or stainless steel
lens ring, and choose from spot SP or narrow flood NF distributions.

brushed stainless steel. Eight captive M" blackened
stainless steel hex-socket cap screws.

Previously, wall-washing applications for LED fixtures were not possible due to the sources inherent
directional output, resulting in unwanted unevenness and hot spots. Now, however, new advanced LED arrays
and new diode construction allow for broader, more uniform beam spreads with the color rendering and
reliability required for highlighting outdoor signs, facades, memorials, columns, and other vertical surfaces. Kim
Lightings new MicroFlood LED series integrates this advanced technology into a small, inconspicuous fixture
profile to offer the most rugged, powerful, compact LED wall-wash luminaire available.
SPECIFICATIONS
HOUSING AND LENS FRAME: Die-cast low copper
alloy (<0.6% Cu) aluminum.
SWIVEL: Die-cast aluminum with locking teeth and K"
solid brass NPT mount. Provides horizontal rotation
independent of the threaded mount. Swivel locked by
J-20 stainless set screw. Clear anodized prior to
titanated zirconium conversion coating for added
corrosion resistance.
LENS: Clear flat tempered glass with silicone gasket.
FASTENERS: Stainless steel.
WIRING: No. 18 SF rated 200C.
FINISH: Super TGIC thermoset polyester powder coat
paint, 2.5 mil nominal thickness, applied over a
titanated zirconium conversion coating; 2500 hour salt
spray test endurance rating. Standard colors are Black
(BL), Dark Bronze (DB), and Verde Green (GR).
OPTICAL SYSTEM: A total of 3 or 9 LED emitters
configured in a rectangular array comprised together
as a module. Available in Halogen White (approx.
3500K). Emitters are directly attached to the
electronic driver.
DRIVER: Constant current electronic driver. Rated for
5 or 15 watts. Available in 120V or 277V input. 0F.
starting temperature. All drivers are Underwriters
off-the-shelf phase control line dimmer
(SCR/TRIAC style).
