E %bout ImpulZ LUTs
The premise of ImpulZ is to open up the possibility to repli+ate the +olor pro+essing of an entire film wor1flow digitally
with the +on.enien+e and a++ura+y of open format E, LUTs9
%pplying ImpulZ LUTs does not substitute digital +olor +orre+tion nor does it attempt to ta1e the +reati.e li+ense of
+olors and images out of the hands of the +olorist9
These LUTs are no oneB+li+1Bma1eBawesome solutions to +olor grading but will ta1e the digital edge off your footage

' "reparing +ompressed footage
If you@re wor1ing with highly +ompressed LBbit footage or your images +ontain noise and other +olor artifa+ts due to poor signal to noise ratio
it is suggested to prepare the material before applying the emulations in order to pre.ent the a++entuation of undesired artifa+ts and get the
highest quality results9 6reat +are has been ta1en in +reating stable transform LUTs but the high resolution +ubes +an pi+1 up on .ery desaturated
+olors: If those +olors are present in the digital sensor noise of your +amera you@ll ha.e to ta1e some e/tra steps to a+hie.e ma/imum quality results9
%lways !enoise the chroma channels of your .ideos in a higher bit depth than the sour+e material9 &ost 0L*s wor1 in E8bit float nati.ely so you
probably won@t ha.e to manually ad?ust this9 This pro+ess blends pi/el .alues together and substantially re!uces ima'e artifacts that would otherwise
be a++entuated by manual +olor grading and applying +olor remapping presets e.en if your footage appears to be noiseBfree9
,epending on the noise le.els of your footage you may also want to subtly denoise the luma +hannel9 inding the right balan+e between eliminating
+ompression artifa+ts and noise while retaining image te/ture is 1ey9
%d.an+ed ,enoise plugins li1e 0eat -ideo gi.e you the ability to re3sharpen any details that may ha.e been smoothed out during this pro+ess by

This offers a si'nificant #uality enhancement o.er reBsharpening in a seperate pass9

+omputer simulated grain or better yet the film grain that is in+luded with ImpulZ9
*liminating digital artifa+ts before emulating the +olor response of film has the added benefit of allowing subtle rete/turing of images
with the in+luded film grain in up to FM resolution and in+reasing the per+ei.ed sharpness of your footage9
.ptional) If you ha.e to swit+h between different appli+ations for these .arious stages of footage preparation and film emulation ma1e sure that
