Adel Zayed

Associate Fellow, Soybean Yield & Stress Project Lead at Monsanto Company
Summary
During my 30+ years of research and teaching experience I have dealt with many projects in various areas of
plant research ranging from plant physiology/biochemistry to plant ecology and functional genomics. This has
enabled me to become a competent plant physiologist with a strong background in stress physiology, functional
genomics, high throughput phenotypic analysis, crop trait discovery, and phytoremediation. I have broad
training and extensive research experience in subcellular and whole plant physiology, plant responses to
environmental stresses, metal and salinity tolerance in plants, plant nutrition, plant biochemistry,
plant-soil-microbial interactions, wetland and upland plant ecology, and hydroponic, greenhouse and field
growing procedures.
