Double click on the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop.

Right click on the affected drive and select 'Explore'.


Delete the AutoRun.exe and autorun.inf files.
Reboot your computer
currently install on the orkstation!
1. "ninstall all #racle components using the #racle "niversal $nstaller %#"$&.
2. Delete the '(E)*+#CA+*MAC'$,E-.#/01ARE-#RAC+E key hich contains registry
entries for all #racle products by using regedit.
3. Delete any references to #racle services-components in the folloing registry location!
'(E)*+#CA+*MAC'$,E-.).0EM-CurrentControl.et-.ervices-. +ooks for key entries that
starts ith 2#ra3 hich are obviously related to #racle.
4. Reboot the orkstation.
5. Delete the #RAC+E*4A.E directory. %i.e C!5#racle&
6. Delete the C!56rogram /iles5#racle directory.
7. Empty the temp directory.
8. Empty the recycle bin.
1ith this7 the computer is more or less clear of any #racle components7 hich allos you to
reinstall #racle if needed.
0he simplest ay to remove #racle is to run the #racle installer!

1. #n the first screen click on 9Deinstall 6roducts...9
2. Expand the tree vie % :ust so that the second level is visible& and make sure you select
everything that is selectable.
3. Click on 9Remove...9
4. #n the confirmation screen click 9)es9
5. 1hen it has finished click 9Close9 and then 9Exit9 to ;uit the installer
1hilst the #racle installer removes many components there are a number of things that it leaves
behind. $n order to completely remove all traces of #racle the folloing additional steps ill need
to be taken!
i. .top any #racle services that have been left running. %.tart 8 .ettings 8 Control 6anel 8
.ervices.&
.ervices hich $ have found left behind are '#racle#ra'ome<=0,.+istener' and
'#racle.ervice#RAC+E'. 'oever there may be others depending on your installation.
+ook for any services ith names starting ith '#racle'.
ii. Run regedit %.tart 8 Run 8 Enter 9regedit97 click 9#k9&7 find and delete the folloing keys!

,ote! $ have had it reported that some people also have registry entries saved under
'(E)*C"RRE,0*".ER5.#/01ARE5#RAC+E7 this registry entry may be created by
some #racle utilities. $f it exists then delete it.
iii. Delete the #racle home directory!

0his ill also remove your database files %unless you located them elsehere7 in hich
case you ill need to delete them separately&.
iv. Delete the #racle program /iles directory!
9C!56rogram /iles5#racle9
v. Delete the #racle programs profile directory!

#ra'ome<=9
if you did not first run the #racle installer to remove #racle then there may be other
#racle profile group directories to remove.
vi. .ome of the #racle services may be left behind by the uninstall. #pen ?services@ on the
control panel7 make a note of hich #racle services remain and see the notes ?'o to
remove a service@ to remove them.
vii. $f you didn't first run the #racle $nstaller to remove #racle then you may have some
references to #racle left in the path. 0o remove these! .tart 8 .ettings 8 Control 6anel 8
.ystem 8 Advanced 8 Environment Aariables7 look at both the use and system variable
'6A0'' and edit them to remove any references to #racle.
,ormally it should not be necessary to manually delete a service. "ninstalling an application
should remove its associated service %if any&.
'oever7 should it be necessary to manually remove a service!
i. Run Regedit or regedtBC.
ii. /ind the registry entry!

iii. /ind the service there and delete it.
)ou may ish to look at the keys and see hat files the service as using and perhaps
delete them also.

)ou ill have to reboot before the list gets updated in server manager.
$ have had it pointed out that some programs are cunning and prevent you from
removing their service easily. %/or example the spyare5malare called ?Command
.ervice@ > 9cmd.ervice9.& 0hese change the permissions to make it more difficult for you
to delete them. /or these you ill have to right click on the ?service@ in regedit %regedtBC&7
go to permissions and grant the administrator full control before the service can be
deleted.
