Data Questions
The equation to the line is: y= -10x

+406x+4,913
The best term that fit our equation was the square root of 3.
Our prediction of HIV in Myanmar in the next 5 years is 7,000 will be infected. This number
makes sense because this number is valid and it with the calculations that we made on excel it
help us calculate for a prediction of 5 years.
In the next 20 years the HIV cases that we predicted are 32500.This number makes sense
because over time the number will decrease and then increase to its highest point.

Article Questions
1. The major factors of HIV in Myanmar includes injecting of drugs, sex workers, men
who have sex with men, and also driven by high levels of migration linked to poor
socio-economic conditions.
2. The actions taken for this situation to decrease are the making of programs and
building the capacity of local organizations of community help services this building
were built to prevent HIV infections.
3. Some of the barriers that contribute to the read of HIV are there was simply not
enough money coming in from the government or outside donors, and they are too
poor to afford the treatment themselves.
4. Some suggestions we have are to have good hygiene, use protection, be safe, get
treatment, use medication if you have any side affect.

White Paper
In websites we found information about the Myanmar HIV rates and what makes them go
up. We found that due to low income to the country they cant afford enough money to set up
programs to help decrease the number, also most people or going through poverty.
Due to our country having low income to the government and having high rates of
poverty, they cannot afford to get treatment. That is one of the reasons for their increase of HIV
rates. But what might decline their ratesare no profiting organizations to help out their
community.

5 year data

In these graphs the trends represent the increase and decrease of HIV in Myanmar.
For 20 years in the future the graph illustrates the amount predictive of HIV results in the
year 2020.
We suggest that people should have safe sex and get checked yearly if they have HIV.

Reflection

In this project I have learned how to calculate and predict what can happen in 5 or even
20 years by using graphs and information that was researched. In this project we had to pick a
country to work on. We had to calculate if HIV was going to decrease or increase over time and
what the equation was. After Having the information and graphs we translated our
mathematical work into a paragraph and answering questions.
Some of the GPLO(S) was Investigating the World because we learned about HIV
sicknesses throughout the world and many programs trying to prevent this or trying to help
them heal from this sickness.Recognizing Perspectives because we figured that they had
barriers and factors for them getting HIV and they couldnt afford the medicine or treatment
and they had no education whats so ever that involves sexual protection. Communicate Ideas
is another because I communicated with my partner and have worked together sharing ideas
and getting out of any problem or something I didnt understood. LastlyTaking Actionthis
project makes you wants to help people who have this disease and work with them to stop HIV
from spreading. Many kids were infected and live horrible lives in pain because of this sickness.
HIV spread long time ago but its still spreading today. Maybe more will be infected this year or
the next.
The skills I learned during this project were to learn how to use and understand Excel. I
learned how to graph and how to calculate the equation by using extrapolation. During this process
we had to visualize what power would the equation be. We chose to the 3
rd
power making our
equation simpler and making the trend line a polynomial. Another skill I learned was how to do
online research about other countries making ma a globally competent student.
Something I would have done differently was getting started on this early and uses my time
wisely to finish in time and revise it with any friend or teacher. I would also work on it at home or at
any spare time. The more time I would have the better the quality it would have been. I would also
researched any other websites .Although I did do the extra credit which was to look for any
websites that help people with HIV get treatment or medicine.

In this assignment I was able to use excel to calculate and predict the 5 and 20 years of
the increase and decrease of Myanmars HIV rates. In this assignment excel came in handy by
doing most of the calculations and helping me figure out the prediction of 20 years of HIV rates
of Myanmar. Within this project I had to answer questions, such as what could people do to
prevent the spread of HIV in that country also what was the equation line of the trend line of the
graph.
The GLPO that I met in completing this project is recognizing perspectives by applying
cross cultural understanding. I believe that I met this GLPO because I used websites to help me
figure out what is the most percentage of HIV in Myanmar; which is 1.3%. I believe that this
assignment shows that I am at the developing level because I am only just beginning to learn
more about the cities and countries that is around me and learning more about the problems that
goes on in this world.
One of the skills that I learned during this assignment is using the web to find more
information on HIV in Myanmar. One of the things I found was the percentage of how many
people have HIV also the community groups that help fight the awareness of HIV. I also learned
more about excel. I learned that it could turn any graph into a polynomial or into a quadratic. I
believe that these new skills could help me in my future. In my opinion it would help me because
in college I might need to use excel for my math class. Also I plan to be a psychologist so I
might use excel to create a graph of the amount of people that need a psychologist.
In my opinion what I could have done differently to get a higher grade in this assignment
would be to use my time more wisely. I also could have organized my time to make more room
for this assignment. Another thing that I could have done more differently is use more resources
to make my show the reader more information about Myanmar HIV rates and what is being done
to lower the rate.
