Employment History June/2007 – September/2009

Company name: Molecular Connections Pvt. Ltd.

Molecular Connections Company is a pioneering in silico discovery Services

and database development Company based in Bangalore, India. I entered
the organization as a junior research associate in the Curex team. During my
time at Curex I worked on core cell signaling project focusing on diabetes
and neurological disorders. My responsibilities involved:

• Studying scientific journals with attention to the details.

• Interpreting the results with reference to standard databases
• Building cell signaling cascades and pathway networks.
• Running a bioinformatics tool to accommodate data.
• Assuring quality work with high targets and delivered on time to the
customer.
• Valuable skills gained from this work included excellent organizational
and communication skills as I was responsible for periodical
presentation of the technical data and report writing for the same.

After an appraisal as a senior scientific analyst my duties served the services as

well as product development team simultaneously.
• In the product domain, apart from the regular curation we undertook tasks
to improvise the product like building chat window, reference database for
internal use to speed up team work, and other motivational initiative thus
adding a creative spirit to the job assigned.
• Well versed with search engines like Pub med, Swiss prot, Mesh, HGNC, iHOP
and many others we identify cell markers for assay development and drug
discovery. This provides a good insight into the pathologies of the diseases and
gives way to excellent data interpretation skills.

PROJECT EXPERIENCE

M.SC Academic project Jan 2007 – may 2007: University of Mysore, Mysore

Title: “partial purification and characterization of PROTEASES

from Hippasa aglinoides. (Funnel web spiders) under the guidance of
Dr.kemparaj.

Abstract: In this project effort has been made to characterize the

proteolytic activity of the crude venom & partially purify the protease using
column chromatography. Initially whole venom has been characterized
using SDS PAGE. The dose dependent caseinolytic activity of the venom
and Zymograms were done to support the data. The venom showed a
procoagulant activity as measured by the prothrombin time. The
proteolytic fraction was then run into the CM-Sephardex column to
partially purify the enzyme.

Summer training research projects: July 2006: Indian institute of

science, Bangalore, India

Title: H-1 NMR assignments and secondary structure identification of

human ubiquitin protein and purification and analysis of protein under the
guidance of Dr.Siddaharth Sarma.

Abstract: The sample protein was extracted using French pressure,

subjected to high speed centrifugation then purified using ammonium
sulphate precipitation followed by dialysis and then chromatographic
techniques also crosschecked by HPLC. The purity of sample protein and
the analysis demonstrated using SDS PAGE. The NMR spectrum analysis
was carried out using ubiquitin protein. I have assigned the ubiquitin
proton NMR spectrum using the sequential assignment method. Also
using the software ANSIG, the spectrum was viewed as 2D plane out of
any 3D or 4D spectrum that is displayed .the peak picking and assignment
of cross peaks is done after checking the chemical shift values that fall on
the vertical line as in TOCSY because we see a total correlation of NH
HA HB HG and so on. Also, the secondary structure of a sample
protein was analyzed using the TALOS program The Chemical Shift Index
was yet another complimentary technique used for secondary structure
analysis.

Projects done at the B.Sc level:

• Jan-March 2005 Literature survey and report with seminar

presentation on topic like molecular oncology and calcium
regulation.

Speed of proliferation is always been a challenging topic of interest as I

took oncology in my final year B.Sc report writing. Extensive database
collection and presentation of facts honed my skills in the same.

April-July 2004 On job training course in Techniques in Immunology,

Jain Institute of Vocational and Advanced studies

Hands on experience to conduct ELISA, ODD, RID, IEP, RIEP, CCIEP

and basic medical immunology techniques- WIDAL, HCG etc

• On job training course in Clinical Biochemistry, 1 month,

Shanthi Diagnostic Centre.

Skilled to conduct Gastric function tests and liver function tests. Urine
analysis-(qualitative and quantitative) Blood analysis--(qualitative and
quantitative) and patients report management and many
responsibilities associated with the lab.

TECHNIQUES KNOWN

• Analytical and separation techniques: Paper chromatography,
