Pro Life Message
For Catholics, public virtue is as important as private
virtue in building up the common good. In the Catho-
lic tradition, responsible citizenship is a virtue; par-
ticipation in the political process is a moral obliga-
tion. Every believer is called to faithful citizenship, to
become an informed, active, and responsible partici-
pant in the political process. As we said a year ago,
"We encourage all citizens, particularly Catholics, to
embrace their citizenship not merely as a duty and
privilege, but as an opportunity [more fully] to partic-
ipate in building the culture of life. Every voice mat-
ters in the public forum. Every vote counts. Every act
of responsible citizenship is an exercise of significant
individual power" (US Bishops: Faithful Citizenship
- Civic Responsibility for a New Millennium, 1999). .

Farmer to Farmer Program
Catholic Rural Life is collaborating with Catholic
Relief Service to implement the Farmer- to-Farmer
program. The program promotes sustainable eco-
nomic growth, food security and agricultural devel-
opment. They are looking for volunteer technical
assistance from US farmers, business people, uni-
versities, etc., to help develop productivity, to ac-
cess new markets and conserve environmental and
natural resources. Volunteers work with farmers,
producer groups, rural businesses and service pro-
viders. Volunteers are not paid, but all expenses are
covered by CRS, including pre-departure costs
(passport, visa, vaccinations), airfare, lodging,
meals and in-country transportation. Presently
there are around 500 projects in Ethiopia, Tanzania,
Uganda and Kenya. . Length of volunteer service
is generally for several weeks. For more infor-
mation contact Beth Hyer at: beth@ncrlc.com or
www.farmertofarmer.crs.org.

Mass Intentions
As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer.
The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention.
Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as
well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who
have died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information!
The Merciful Out Look Is?
Fr. Michael Gaitley, MIC, urges lay Catholics to respond to Christs thirst for souls by developing a merciful
outlooka search for occasions that call for mercy. Following John Paul II in Dives in Misericordia, (Dives in
Misericordia (Latin for "Rich in Mercy"), Gaitley sees the merciful outlook as a bilateral reality, As we give it, we
also receive it.
a response to existential loneliness that gives a cup of love to help quench our neighbors thirst as well as
our own;

Prayer for the New Evangelization
Lord Jesus Christ, you have given Your Church the mis-
sion to proclaim the Gospel to all the nations.
May our efforts to fulfill this mission be guided by the
Holy Spirit so that we might be a leaven of new life, salt of
the earth and a light to the world, worthy missionaries and
faithful to You.
Make us valiant witnesses to the Faith of the Church and
inspire us to speak the truth with love. Help us to com-
municate to to others the joy that we have received.
Permit us to be united but no closed, humble but not fear-
ful, simple but not nave, thoughtful but not overbearing,
contemporary, but not superficial, respectful of others but
boldly your disciple's.
May we bear into the world the hope of God who is Christ
the Lord who rose from the dead and lives with and reigns
with God and the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever .
Amen
What is Stewardship?
Stewardship is a complete lifestyle, a life of total
accountability and responsibility acknowledging
God as Creator and Owner of all. Stewardship is
responsible management of our God-given re-
sources of time, talent, and treasure. It enhances our
relationships with God and one another. Steward-
ship is living out a commitment to be Christ-
centered rather than self-centered and involves a
conversion of the heart. Stewardship is a lifelong
journey with each person at a different place on the
path.

Care & Share 2014

Our diocese needs your help. Since it has been
around for more than 40 years, Care and Share can
seem routine each year, but please know that its
success is VITAL to the health of our Catholic
Church in eastern Montana. And your gift can never
be too small or too large. Currently our diocesan
offices offer as much ministry support as possible
within current funding levels and limitations. Your
donation will help to vibrantly grow and fund the
ministries that can help our Church in the Diocese
of Great Falls-Billings thrive!

Have you seen the 2014 Care and Share video? You
can watch it on our website:
