The pre-deployment upgrade indicates an upgrade mode in which the BTS software is upgraded in
the case that the GTMU is not connected to the BSC.
Version of data configuration supports SRAN: indicates that the Is Support Normalized Data
Configuration parameter is set to SUPPORT(Support).
The upgrade of a BTS from non-SRAN data configuration to SRAN data configuration can be
performed on only the M2000.
Select the upgrade guide properly according to the actual upgrade scenario.
This document describes the BTS software upgrade from BTS3000V100R009 to
BTS3000V100R012 or within BTS3000V100R012 through the SMT.

1 Read-Ahead Information
For a multi-mode base station, SingleRAN3.0 or later can be upgraded directly to the target
version whereas versions earlier than SingleRAN3.0 must be upgraded to SingleRAN3.0 first
and then to the target version.
For the upgrade of SingleRAN3.0 and later versions, check Appendix 1 Version Mapping
Information to see whether the source version is a SingleRAN version. You can obtain this
appendix from the multi-mode base station release notes in the document package delivered
with the software version of the multi-mode base station. Figure 1.2 describes upgrade
requirements for SingleRAN versions. For non-SingleRAN versions, contact Huawei
technical support for an upgrade policy.

1.4 Precautions
1.
The SMT must use the latest software version released with the GBTS software package.
2.
The SMT does not support the FTP upgrade mode in BTS3000V100R012C00SPC058
and later.
3.
Services are disrupted during the upgrade. Therefore, the upgrade time is based on the
customer's requirement.

4.
5.
The procedure for upgrading the BTS3900 GSM or BTS3900A GSM is the same as that
for upgrading the DBS3900 GSM. The subsequent chapters take the DBS3900 GSM as
an example to describe the upgrade.
6.
During a BTS upgrade, the packages of GTMU software, TRX software, and software of
the monitoring boards are involved. The upgrade process of the DRRU, DRFU, GRFU,
MRRU, or MRFU is the same as that of the GRRU. The upgrade process of other boards
is the same as that of the EMU. This document takes the upgrades of the GTMU, UBRI,
GRRU, and EMU as an example. For the list of the boards to be upgraded, see section
7.1"How Many Categories of Boards Are There in a BTS?"
7.
You are required to upgrade other boards except the GTMU, UBRI, UTRP and TRX
boards according to the precaution released by HUAWEI. The upgrade of other boards
should be performed after that of the GTMU, UBRI, UTRP and TRX software. For
details, see section 7.2"How to Upgrade the Monitoring Boards?"
8.
When the BTS version before an upgrade is BTS3000V100R008C11 and the version of
data configuration is SRAN3.0, if you want to perform an SMT-based upgrade, see
section 7.4"How to Perform an Upgrade in the Case That the Version Before an Upgrade
Is BTS3000V100R008C11 and Version of Data Configuration Is SRAN3.0 or Later
Versions".
9.
The following modules cannot be upgraded on the SMT: GRFU V2, GRRU V2. If you
need to upgrade these modules on the SMT, upgrade them by using the USB flash drive.

7 FAQ
When the BTS is connected to the BSC, and the site management rights are obtained on the
SMT, no configuration command should be run on the SMT because running the
configuration command may lead to reset of the BTS.
Do not reset a board during the period between loading software to and activating software on
the board.
---End
Step 1 On the SMT, click Site255 in the navigation tree in the left pane, and then double-click
Software Control under Function in the right pane. In the displayed Software Control
dialog box, set related parameters, as shown in Figure 1.1.
To grant the load control right to the GSM side, choose Get Control. To grant the load control right
to the LTE or UMTS side, choose Release Control.
For details of the ownership of loading control rights, see Appendix 1 Version Mapping Information
in the folder MBTS Release Notes.

7 FAQ
Before enabling the automatic loading and activation switch, ensure that the
BTS3000V100R012C00SP58 software package is uploaded on the BSC6900 LMT.
Otherwise, the BSC resets the BTS during the version verification when the automatic loading
and activation function is enabled.
For details on how to download the BTS software package to the BSC6900 LMT, see section
7.3How to Enable and Disable the Automatic Loading and Activation Function in Batch
Mode?
Enable the automatic loading and activation function by performing the following steps:
Step 1 On the BSC6900 LMT, enter SET BTSAUTODLDACTINFO in the Command Input box,
and then click Assist.

6.1 Precautions
If the network runs improperly after the upgrade or the KPIs after the upgrade fail to meet the
customer's requirements on the day following the upgrade, roll back the version and report the
event to Huawei.
If both modes of a dual-mode base station are upgraded, it is recommended that you roll back
the version of both modes to the original version during the version rollback.
You should perform the rollback on the SMT released with the version
BTS3000V100R012C00SPC058.
