GreenSneakers 2014 EcoChallenge for Education will take place in conjunction with America Recycles Day,
November 15, 2013, and run through internationally recognized Earth Day, April 22, 2014. Collections will be
closed at the end of the day, April 22, 2014.
In order to be eligible for additional cash prizes, your school must comply with the Official Rules of the
GreenSneakers 2014 EcoChallenge for Education.
The Official Rules are as follows: Please initial to the left of each item to acknowledge understanding and acceptance,.

Please note that for the "qualified collection", we accept sneakers/tennis shoes, either new or gently used .
No large rips or tears, and the soles must be intact. We will accept the 'nubby' turf type shoes as well as
the hiking sneaker type of shoe. We apologize however, we do not accept the following tvpes of shoes:
sports cleats of anv kind, whether rubber/spikes/cleats, heels, dress shoes. crocs, flip flops, sandals, work
boots, slippers. or any shoe that is not a sneaker/tennis shoe type. If you have any questions, please
contact us to clarify what is considered a "qualified collection". We do ask that the sneakers are connected
together as pairs; either with a string, a ziptie, or tied together so the pairs remain together through the
processing.
Each school organization, whether public or private, entering the GreenSneakers 2014 EcoChallenge for Education must be an
educational institution recognized by the individual State Department of Education or equivalent authority in your state. Each
organization entering the GreenSneakers 2014 EcoChallenge for Education will be required to submit a verifiable total student
enrollment number to GreenSneakers, no later than March 7, 2014.
Each school will be provided the following collection materials: one corrugated collection bin (more available at a nominal fee of
$5/bin plus shipping charged to your amount due upon completion). NO shipping will be charged if additional bins are ordered
with initial registration for shipment of initial bins to your school. You will also receive four return shipping boxes with shipping
instructions; once they are returned to our warehouse, more will be shipped out.
We have recently implemented a process for getting shipping boxes out to you with return shipping instructions. The boxes and
the return shipping via UPS are at no charge to you. This will eliminate having to store the collection and wonder about pick-up.
It has gone over very well so far. Be sure to follow the instructions so the boxes are coming from your school to GreenSneakers
or we won't know who the collection belongs to and will not know which school to give credit.
Collections gathered after the official end date will have to be postmarked no later than April 23, 2014, to be counted towards
your GreenSneakers 2014 EcoChallenge for Education. Shipments dated April 24, 2014, and after will NOT count towards the
GreenSneakers 2014 EcoChallenge for Education competition. However, any collections shipped after April 23, 2014, will still
benefit the collecting school at 50 cents per pound.
Each school will be provided a username and password to allow access to our online resources to use in promoting your
collecting efforts.
The GreenSneakers 2014 EcoChallenge for Education will be awarding a Grand Prize of $5,000 along with seven (7) cash
awards for 1st Prize of $2,000 and 2nd Prize of $1,000, in three school size categories.
o Category 1: Up to 300 students
o Category 2: 301 - 800 students
o Category 3: 801 +students
In order for any of the schools registered for the GreenSneakers 2014 EcoChallenge for Education to be eligible for the Grand
Prize, 1st or 2"d place cash prizes, they must have gathered no less than 1,000 pounds of sneakers. All cash prizes will be
awarded on top of the 50 cents per pound of sneakers collected.
After all collections are received by GreenSneakers, the collections will be weighed by an independent third party in
GreenSneakers' storage facility and weighed to the second decimal place (Example - 0.00).
After the final weight of each school collection is recorded, GreenSneakers will then calculate the average collection weight per
student at each school. Each school's average will be recorded. The school with the highest average weight per student will be
awarded the Grand Prize of $5,000. In the event that there are two schools with the exact same weight (to the 2nd decimal) tied
for the Grand Prize, they would then split this equally.
All schools will enter their weights online every Wednesday. Please enter in only the weight of the shoes collected in the week
being recorded. The website is set up to total your ongoing entries. If no shoes were collected, please enter zero. The link for
recording the weights will be sent out in an email as well as being located on the resources page.
