Concepo e objetivos: O curso organizado em torno da anlise dos principais programas de pesquisas contemporneos baseados em mtodos histricos para o estudo da teoria poltica. A contribuio da Escola de Cambridge de histria do pensamento poltico constituir o ncleo das discusses. A primeira parte do curso visa apresentao do debate metodolgico introduzido pelo contextualismo lingustico de Pocock e Skinner. A segunda parte examinar abordagens parcialmente concorrentes e parcialmente complementares abordagem contextualista. A terceira parte analisa a influncia terica dos estudos substantivos de Pocock e Skinner, especialmente as contribuies desses autores para o chamado republican revival na teoria poltica contempornea. O objetivo geral do curso compreender em que medida e de que modo os mtodos prprios da histria intelectual podem ser mobilizados para o estudo da teoria poltica.
Dinmica das aulas: Os procedimentos bsicos so aulas expositivas seguidas discusses em torno da literatura de cada encontro.
Avaliao: Os alunos sero avaliados pelas seguintes atividades, na seguinte proporo: participao nos debates nas aulas (25%); apresentao oral de um tpico relativo ao tema de uma das aulas (25%); trabalho escrito final (50%).
