The luminaires used were two double tube fluorescent lamp equipped with a diffuser. It was not bright enough to cover the entire hallway properly thus yielding the data above and failing to pass the required standard. We recommend using at least two more luminaires of the same type or putting pin lights at the left end of the hallway. The left end of the hallway is very important to be illuminated properly because it is where an emergency exit door is located.

Sunlight was also allowed to pass through Gallery 1 since it had very large window space. Its ambience was perfect for the Art Works to be clearly seen and appreciated by everyone inside. It also passed its standard requirement of lux.

Also its window space was also lessened and was not exposed enough to sunlight. Its lighting fixtures are also not that many compared to Gallery 1. Although the same amount of track lighting was maintained, other luminaires were missing like pin lights and recessed down lights. Therefore, unlike Gallery 1, it failed to meet its standard requirements of 300 lux. We recommend that the luminaires be increased in quantity to the extent that it can compensate for the lessened window space it has.

But it was lighted appropriately and vividly due to it being the hallway where almost all the important administrative offices were located. It used a combination of cove lights which had pin lights on its center and double tube fluorescent lamps which was used in the ground floor hallway. We were not permitted to measure the offices due to it being off limits to students. It passed its requirement of 100 lux for hallways.

We measured very little lux provided by the double tube fluorescent lamps with diffusers. The ceiling was too high and therefore lessened the appropriate lux that needed to reach the workplace area. Also the room had a good window space but some parts of the window was tinted therefore sunlight was blocked. The corners also had very poor lighting. We recommend that they increase the number of double tube fluorescent tubes used and remove the diffuser so that direct lighting can be used specially at the corners of the room. Glare or shadow wont be a problem because the ceiling height is high.

It had a slanted end at the left most part which led to a conference room. The left end part had only two double tube fluorescent lamps with diffusers. This was not enough to light the part of the hallway properly therefore that part gave minimum lux values. As for the rest of the hallway, it was lighted exactly the same way as the 2 nd floor Hallway. We recommend that they should put pin lights at the left end part of the hallway near the entrance to the conference room because it was there where the lux had minimum values and the luminaires werent able to light that part properly.

They lux values did not meet the standard requirement because of the poor lighting design. It only had 4 double tube fluorescent lamps with diffusers. It had very poor lighting on the corners of the room and the windows did little help due to the fact that some of them were tinted therefore blocking some sunlight that should have passed through. We recommend that if they cannot change the windows to become clearer they should at least remove the luminaires diffuser to allow more light to be exposed and put pin lights on corners if the fluorescent lamps output would not be enough. This recommendation is the same for all the classrooms located at the 4 th floor.
