his quarter wed like to introduce a new mission partner, and
a new member of the mobilising team in Nottingham. At
the moment, our new mission partner is looking at taking up a
placement in a creative access nation, therefore we are keeping
her identity secret, she needs your prayers though and has
shared details below. Tom Lott will be known to some of you
as hes already compiling Prayerline. Please pray for him as he
balances preparing for his wedding with organising the home
assignment conference this month.

Im not sure yet where I
will be going to serve God,
although its likely to be in a
Muslim context, but I have an
idea what God is saying to me.
As in the words of the childrens
song its an adventure following
Jesus....... This is an adventure
of trusting God, its not always
easy, but God has promised me
in Jeremiah 29:11, that he knows
the plans he has for me.
WEDNESDAY 2JULY

Please pray for my family who
are coming to terms with me
going away to live and work in
a foreign land. Give thanks that
in my nal months at work, I
have been able to move to a
dierent hospital and update my
midwifery skills. Already I have
been able to explain my faith
and retirement, that Im not just
getting away from the rat race
but that I am following Gods
calling. Not easy to discuss with
people with little or no faith.

brings plenty of opportunity
to establish relationships with
colleagues who are Muslims.
Pray for open doors to good
conversations and that I would
be sensitive to the leading of the
Holy Spirit.

Mentoring interns, young
doctors and nurses is an
important part of medical
ministry. Pray that God would
use me to communicate to them
Gods great heart of love for
people. May they not only learn
palliative skills but learn to see
patients as God sees them his
precious treasures.
TUESDAY 8 JULY

We seek to involve
communities in palliative
care. Pray that the Lord of the
harvest would touch the hearts
of local Christians with the
desire to reach out with love and
compassion to those of other
faiths with terminal illnesses
to ease their suering; physical,
emotional, social, and spiritual.
WEDNESDAY 9 JULY

Part of our work is
passing the baton to the
next generation of medical
missionaries. Medical and
nursing students and interns on
the Mediquest team are visiting
us this week. Pray that the Lord
would speak to them about
how their futures might involve
reaching the unreached through
medicine.
THURSDAY 10 JULY

Partnering with
government healthcare
services provides an excellent
ongoing opportunity to interact
with sta, some of whom have
never heard the gospel or seen
it in action. Pray that AIMers
serving in these settings would
see beyond the frustrations and
ineciencies to people created
in Gods image, needing his love.

Christian healthcare
facilities often face
ongoing nancial challenges,
but are places where the light
of the gospel can shine brightly.
Pray for those AIMers involved
in care provision, administration,
teaching, etc, that the love of
Jesus would shine through their
interactions with patients and
others.
SATURDAY 12 JULY

Geography does not
liberate cross-cultural
workers from the relational
struggles and internal politics
that too often beset Christian
communities. Pray for each
healthcare professional serving
with AIM, that they would clothe
themselves with compassion,
kindness, humility, gentleness
and patience in their interactions
with patients, colleagues and
others around them.
Ministry Focus: Healthcare
J
esus healed, and in both word and deed impressed upon his
followers that God cares about the whole person, not just their
soul. Christ came to reconcile all of fallen creation to himself;
this has implications for peoples relationships not only with God,
but also with themselves, others, and creation itself. Through a
wide variety of healthcare ministries (e.g. preventive, curative,
rehabilitative, palliative) AIM seeks to restore individuals and
their relationships and lead them toward fellowship with the
Lord Jesus himself.

leanor is a family
practitioner with
palliative care credentials
working in a government
hospital to help develop their
palliative care programme.
Since palliative care includes
spiritual care as well as
psychological, physical
and social care, it is a great
avenue for holistic medical
ministry. About half of the
people in the community are
Islamic.

church is growing and
we are praying for wisdom from
God to mobilise and catalyse this
church for mission work in Africa.
Pray also that people will have a
desire in their hearts to see Christ
centered churches among all
African people.

Please pray for South
American pastors, for
them to be open to the vision of
transcultural ministries. Pray that
they will engage in supporting
and helping candidates with a
desire to serve in Africa through
AIM.

Give thanks with us for
several partnerships
we have established over the
last few months with local
missionary organisations. Pray
for our relationship with these
organisations, that they clearly
understand our purpose, vision
and values, and can work with us
to achieve them.

mission partners we have
appointed. Many, before they
begin to think about learning
African languages, need to
learn some English. Pray for this
language preparation and also
their work raising support, both
nancially and in prayer.

movement in Brazil. We
have distributed more than 5000
cards with information about
unreached people groups on
them. Give thanks that we have
more than 180 groups praying
every week for dierent African
peoples.

Pray for funds to purchase
a property to become the
headquarters for AIM Brazil and
all of South America. Purchasing
a building is a necessary and
important action to allow us to
support the expansion of our
mobilising region across the
whole of South America.

of the South America
board. Pray that God would give
them wisdom and discernment
to lead the South American
mobilising region with humility,
grace and to be focused on Gods
sovereignty.

Mobilising Region: Brazil
W
e are deeply grateful to God for his mercy! We have
experienced daily his provision and his hands have been
leading us in our work. The most beautiful thing that we have
seen recently, is people from dierent parts of South America
united through prayer for Africa and specically for unreached
people groups. We know that all prayer touches Gods heart and
that well see the fruit of these prayers, manifested in the lives
reached by the gospel of love of our Saviour.

We work in development
and the basis of all
development is being created
in Gods image. Problems in
individuals and societies arise
because that image is marred
and the relationship with
God broken. Development
begins with restoring broken
relationships through health
care, TEFL, literacy, exercise
classes and art.
MONDAY 21 JULY

Our town is a major site of
pilgrimage and religious
education for the region, pilgrims
and scholars come from many
dierent countries. Local people
are often theologically literate
and everyone is happy to talk
about the things of God. We are
able to share Gods words openly,
we pray the Spirit uses them to
move people.
TUESDAY 22 JULY

During Ramadan
opportunities arise to talk
more deeply on issues like what
does God require of us? How
can we truly please God? Can
we know if we are acceptable
to God? It is also a time of
celebration and sharing, of peace
and reconciliation.
WEDNESDAY 23 JULY

We are a team of 6
people; 2 single girls, a
young couple (with a 2 year old)
and us with a 17 year old! There
is culture shock in a new country
and within a multinational team.
Our curriculum is designed to
build teams and train members
to lead teams themselves later.
We are all having rough edges
smoothed and are learning to
model the body of Christ to our
neighbours.

The key to understanding
culture is learning the
language. Having the language
ability of a kindergarden kid
is a great answer to Western
arrogance. People love teaching
those who want to learn and are
delighted we value them enough
to want to learn their language.
Perseverance is the key.

Spiritual oppression is
very real and very intense.
Our team have experienced
direct attack and there are
certain parts of town where jinn
are known to gather. Such forces
thrive on chaos confusion and
misunderstanding. Mistrust, ill
health, suspicion and insecurity
are all used against us.

Dreams and visions form
an accepted part of a
persons spiritual pilgrimage.
They often allow God to get
someones attention and lead
them to Jesus. Many people
rst become interested in Jesus
through a dream or vision. We
then have opportunity to explain
who he is, but only Jesus has the
power to save.

Our role then is to witness
to our colleagues, friends
and neighbours and
discover where God is at

U
nreached by the church and neglected by their government
but ercely proud of their history, culture & orthodoxy.
These are the people we are called to serve. They read the Quran
in Arabic but many cannot read the newspaper in their own
language. We are one year into leading 2 year teams; 6 people
with a calling to seek the lost and proclaim the good news of the
kingdom by living along side, learning from and loving people.

Pray for perseverance for
Alvilde, a Bara woman
who is part of a team working
to translate the Bible into Bara.
After completing Luke, they are
currently working on Acts. Pray
that local church leaders would
support this project and use the
translations, so that the Bara hear
Gods word in their language.
MONDAY 28 JULY

Traditionally Bara women
get married very young
and start a family. Town-life is
somewhat dierent. Malala is
a single mother to a little girl.
She works as a teacher in a Bara
village with no family support
and feels very isolated. Pray that
God shows her the freedom and
security found in a relationship
with him.
TUESDAY 29 JULY

Andry is a Bara man
with a stall near us. He
is young and married, without
children, from a village far away
where he invited us to go. We
had to decline because of the
insecurity in the countryside. We
hope to have opportunities to
share the good news with him.
WEDNESDAY 30 JULY

Retskango is a Bara man
from a small village who
is under arrest in Betroka. He
claims to have been wrongly
accused of murder and is
awaiting trial. Hes listening to
the Gospel of Luke in Bara and
weve enjoyed sharing with him.
Pray God would use his word to
change Retskangos heart.

Vavy is in her early
twenties, has ve young
children and recently came to
Betroka with her sick mother.
Many people come from remote
villages to get help from the local
church here. Pray that Vavy will
respond to the gospel and then
share it with others when she
returns to her village.

Maria is a baby girl from a
Bara family who lives near
Betroka. Please pray for her to
be healthy and strong as she has
been ghting sickness. Often
parents cannot aord to get
adequate medical help. Also
pray that she would have the
opportunity to hear the good
news at a young age.

Zona is a Bara man who
came to Betroka years
ago because he was very sick.
Christians prayed for him, helped
him get medicine and God
healed him. He is now a father
of two children. He faithfully
attends church and is eagerly
growing in his faith. He hopes to
return to his village soon to share
the gospel with others.

ur missionary team
here in the town of
Betroka is getting to know
many visiting Bara men and
women from villages where
there is no Christian witness.
Our prayer is that these
Bara would understand and
respond to the Gospel while
they are here and be able
to share it with others when
they return home.
People focus: The Bara
T
he Bara are a cattle people in the south-central part of
Madagascar, representing around 750,000 people. Every
detail of their lives is determined by their ancestor spirits.
The large majority are unreached by the gospel, with
very few national or ex-pat missionaries working among
them. AIMs ministry among the Bara started with a
TIMO team in 2004 in a small village. Now a Focus
Team is working in Betroka to help encourage and
equip local believers to reach out to the Bara.

For most of the national
missionaries who are working
in remote places, homeschooling
is not always a viable option.
Please pray that educators would
rise to the challenge of helping
train these parents in how to
supplement their childrens
education with locally available
resources. This then would mean
there would be a real alternative
to sending them away to
boarding schools at young ages.
MONDAY 4 AUGUST

Pray for patience and
perseverance for parents
who are educating special needs
children at home. Since many of
the other educational options
are not suitable for their children,
often their only other option is
to return to their home country.
Pray for wisdom as they help
their children reach their full
potential.

A number of families who
are homeschooling now
will be sending their children to
boarding school in the future.
Pray that parents would know
Gods timing for when that
should happen and that they
would be able to use the time
they do have with their children
to its fullest.

Many mums who
homeschool in Africa do
so out of necessity. Please
pray for wisdom for these
mums who have very little
outside support and who are
often misunderstood by their
neighbours. Pray that they would
nd a good balance of family
life and village life, that supports
them and their children.
THURSDAY 7 AUGUST

Some of the children being
homeschooled are the only
expats in their area. While this
can lead to good interaction
with their neighbour friends,
sometimes they may lack the
social skills to t in with their
other peers. Pray for good, caring
friends for each of the children
growing up between cultures.
FRIDAY 8 AUGUST

There are many families
in AIM who benet from
homeschool helpers. Having
someone to share the teaching,
bring new skills and ideas, or
support specic educational
needs can make a huge
dierence to our homeschooling
families. Please pray that God will
call workers to this vital support
ministry.

Pray for families as they
combine teaching their
children with ministry, language
learning and daily living, often in
challenging contexts. Some have
chosen to homeschool, others do
it out of necessity. Pray that God
will equip parents to teach their
children and this experience
will draw families closer to one
another and to him.

other up, just as in fact
you are doing.

to the mission eld.
Like all children, missionary
children need an education.
Due to the locations in
which many families are
serving the best option is
homeschooling, especially at
the younger ages. Please pray
for the challenges faced by
homeschooling families on
the mission eld.
Ministry focus: Homeschooling
G
od has called AIM to focus on the unreached peoples of
Africa. There are still more than 900 unreached people
groups in Africa. Most of these groups are unreached because
they are in dicult locations to work with limited educational
options. As AIM moves more and more into their areas,
homeschooling seems to be the best option for most families.
But homeschooling brings many challenges. This week we focus
our prayer on a few of these challenges

Preach the Word (PTW)
is a Bible training course
situated in Kigali. Pray for the
two groups being trained at
PTW, consisting of 55 students
in total. This is the largest body
of students we have ever had.
Pray that we would be able to
maintain the family feel at PTW
and discern which students to

Pray for Innocent, one of
our graduating students
studying at George Whiteld
College, Cape Town. Pray that
he would be equipped to come
back to Rwanda and lead a
church plant supported by 5
other PTW students.

Pray for the application
of Gods word in our
students lives, that what they
learn would aect the way
they live within their families,
churches and communities.

Since 2011, we have been
running youth camps and
signed a partnership with the
Anglican Diocese of Kigali last
year. Pray for continued good
partnership in this ministry, now
called 3d Christian Camps (we
are using their facilities, are
planning a work camp there and
2 other camps this year)!

Pray for the youth who
have participated and will
participate in camps, that the
truth of the word of God would
impact their lives and that they
would walk as Christ walked
in their daily lives, setting an
example for the people around
them!

People need more
than simply facts about
HIV/AIDS in order to change
behaviour. Pray that the WHY
WAIT? life skills curriculum
would be implemented in
schools/organisations and give
the youth of Rwanda good
reasons to make good choices.

Pray for teachers/sta
who have been trained
in using the WHY WAIT? life
skills curriculum, that they
themselves would be impacted
by the lessons they teach and
be models to the youth under
their care.

lease pray for Rwanda
as it commemorates
20 years since the 1994
genocide, where 800,000
Tutsi were killed at the
hands of the radical Hutu
Interahamwe . Pray for true
reconciliation with God and
each other through the cross
of Christ. Pray that the truth
of Christ, revealed in his
Word, would transform the
body of Christ in Rwanda.
10-16 August
Country focus: Rwanda
I
n 1994, the swiftest genocide in history took place in Rwanda.
More than 800,000 people were killed in just 100 days.
Many women were raped, which contributed to the AIDS
epidemic, and many orphans left behind. After the genocide,
a new brand of churches emerged, pentecostal congregations
started by diaspora returning to their homeland. However, this
mushrooming of indigenous denominations has produced
other problems: false teaching, syncretism and legalism. AIM is
involved in theological education, Bible training and discipleship,
AIDS ministries, youth ministries, farming Gods way and
education in its various facets.

Praise the Lord, the team
have completed their rst
year! We have recognized Gods
presence, encouragement and
protection through struggling
to learn the local language,
sickness, a break-in at a team
members house and the heat.
MONDAY 18 AUGUST

How great it is to see we
have made friends in the
villages! We speak their language
(more or less) and are part of the
community, helping with their
daily activities, learning a lot.
Pray for growing friendships and
more friends for Gods kingdom.
TUESDAY 19 AUGUST
19
We have started a
childrens ministry with
60 kids and have invited some
local teenagers to help. Pray that
helpers and kids would know
about Jesus and that parents
would be interested in what the
kids are doing and learning. We
see this as a big opportunity as
the villages are full of kids.
WEDNESDAY 20 AUGUST
20
A friendship is being built
with a local band who
have created wonderful songs
from Bible verses we have given
them: Daniel 3: 28 and Isaiah 43:
1 - 3. Please pray these songs
spread through the villages, that
people will sing Gods words in
their own language as they get
to know Him! Ladys, Matis and
Edme (photo) are the leaders of
the band.
THURSDAY 21 AUGUST

We have set up a project
to help shermen with
nets, canoes, and their nances
- this has started well. A Bible
study has started with shermen,
their wives and other local
people. Pray for more shermen
to join and for growing
development projects!
FRIDAY 22 AUGUST

An attempt to translate
the gospel and Bible
stories has begun with the book
of Matthew. We use it for the kids
programme and in Bible studies.
Please pray for more hunger for
Gods word.
SATURDAY 23 AUGUST
23
We are teaching English
using the Bible as one of
the ways to introduce villagers
to the gospel. Villagers are eager
to learn. Pray for a bigger impact
than just English, that the Bible
verses would impact their lives
and their way of thinking.
17-23 August

osina is a Sakalava
Christian, leading this
TIMO team amongst her own
people group. Pray for her
that she would have insight
and wisdom, as she acts as
an intermediary between an
International team and the
Sakalavan community. Pray
for the whole of the team, as
they live as light in what often
is a dark place. Please pray
for protection from the dark
elements of witchcraft and
sorcery which are rampant.
Pray too for increased
opportunities to share the
freedom and light they have
in Christ.
People focus: The Sakalava
S
akalava people are both shermen and cattle
keepers. They believe and fear the spirits of their
ancestors which they see as their intermediaries to their
god. The spirits are there to reveal to them their fortunes
and future, secure blessings from their god, to help them,
and harm those who threaten them. We pray instead that
the Sakalava people would see that Jesus Christ is the perfect
intermediary to God. He is the prophet, priest and king!

Pray for Tanzanian pastors
and evangelists who
have attended IBM conferences
this year. They have received
teaching on topics such as
cross-cultural church planting,
worldviews and Islam. Pray
they will be encouraged and
equipped as they disciple
congregations and minister to
dierent cultural groups.
MONDAY 25 AUGUST

Construction work
continues at Sanga
Sanga, with plans for a
conference hall now being
implemented. Building
manager Matt Dixon is on home
assignment so please pray for
Tony Swanson as he has taken on
the oversight of this work. Pray
for good relationships with local
builders and for safety on site.
TUESDAY 26 AUGUST

Pastor Hanje has
attended several
IBM seminars. He and his
congregation have started
building a church school in the
village of Konsanga among the
Wazigua people who are 100%
Islamic. The next phase is to
build a church and there are
plans to send a TIMO team there
in the future.
WEDNESDAY 27 AUGUST

Many pastors in Tanzania
have responsibility for
multiple churches. One such

Ministry focus:
Theological Education
T
he Institute of Bible and Ministry (IBM) is an on-going
theological training programme, working through the
Africa Inland Church, Tanzania. It runs seminars for pastors and
evangelists in eastern Tanzania and is providing much-needed
training on subjects such as missiology, biblical leadership, cross-
cultural church planting and spiritual warfare. The AIM team in
Morogoro comprises three UK families. Additionally, IBMs major
project is the construction of a retreat centre at Sanga Sanga,
near Morogoro, which will provide a base for the Institute.

he goal of the Sanga
Sanga Retreat Centre is
for it to be a self-sustaining
facility, generating its own
food and being nancially
self-supporting. Practical
teaching will show pastors
how to use their plots of land
to create sustainable family
income. We also hope the
Retreat Centre will have a
positive impact on Sanga
Sanga village where there is
currently no visible church.

The Samburu TIMO Team
is an international team
consisting of nine adults from
ve dierent countries. There are
many cultural dierences within
the Team. Pray that we will grow
in unity and love for one another
and, in so doing, bear witness to
Christs love.
MONDAY 1 SEPTEMBER

Most of the people in
Lchakwai speak only
Samburu. Therefore it is essential
that we all learn to hear and
speak Samburu. A number of our
Team Members have language
helpers that do not speak
English. Pray for quick progress in
grasping the Samburu language.
TUESDAY 2 SEPTEMBER

We are the only wazungu
(white people) living in
Lchakwai. Some have questioned
our motives for being here.
Recently the elders conrmed
their support for our presence.
Pray that all of the community
will grow in trusting us, and
that nothing will hinder us from
staying in Lchakwai.
WEDNESDAY 3 SEPTEMBER

Members as they continue
to adjust to life in Lchakwai.
There are physical challenges
like carrying water or walking
an hour to the Team Leaders
Home. But more dicult are the
challenges of not understanding,
not being understood, and
responding in love to the many
visitors that they receive.

Pray that God will prepare
the hearts of many Samburu
to respond to the gospel. Pray
that they will recognize their
need for a Saviour and decide
to follow Christ. Our Team Days

cultural dierences, may build
friendships with the Samburu.
As the Team learns more and

expressed the desire that
we start a church service. We
are hesitant to do so, partially
because of our limited language
abilities and partially out of fear
of establishing a form that will be
equated with being a Christian.

People focus: The Samburu
T
he Samburu of northern Kenya live very traditionally. They herd
cattle, sheep, goats and sometimes camels. Their houses are simple
as they often move depending on the rains and the availability of
grazing. Although Christian churches can be found in towns, there is
hardly any gospel witness in the scattered communities of the lowlands.
The Samburu TIMO Team moved to Lchakwai in March 2014. Their goal is
to learn the Samburu language and culture, build relationships, and share
Christ in those relationships.

partners serving in Africa. Give
thanks to God for the workers
he is raising. Pray that all those

Christ as Lord and Saviour.

Mobilising Region: South England
P
eter Oyugi has worked as the Mobiliser for South England
and South Wales for a year, supported on a part-time basis
by Peter & Sally Maclure. The region is quite vast and has had
the blessing of having signicant numbers of short-term and
long-term workers. Within the region we have groups of very
faithful prayer supporters to whom we are grateful. The Lord has
certainly blessed the work and so to him be the glory.

The TIMO curriculum
is centred around
relationships, achieved through
an intensive process of learning
the language and culture of the
Lopit. Team members spend time
with language helpers learning
phrases. Time is then spent in the
village, meeting people, trying
out the phrases and building
relationships.
MONDAY 15 SEPTEMBER

TIMO is a two year
programme aimed at
training and equipping cross-
cultural workers for long-term
missionary service. Within the
programme there are four core
units which cover a wide range
of missiology. Pray this course
helps team members develop
personal philosophies of mission
life and ministry.
TUESDAY 16 SEPTEMBER

Our team is multicultural.
Each has more than
one culture to learn and adjust
to as well as Lopit culture. To
cope with all this adjustment
team members need healthy
interpersonal relationships and
a sincere commitment of faith.
Pray for them and team unity.
WEDNESDAY 17 SEPTEMBER

Our team has six children.
One is home schooled
on the eld and ve are in
boarding school. Pray for the
children, both for their spiritual
and academic lives. For those
away at boarding school, pray
they adjust well. Pray too for the
practicalities of school fees and
travelling expenses.

The team is hoping to
reach out to two main
villages- Iboni and OHilang.
Team members live among these
communities and experience
every part of village life. Our
communities are animistic
in religion and hold to their
traditional beliefs in witchcraft,
rainmakers, landlords, sacred
places and objects of worship.

A few believers have been
identied but face daily
challenges. Breaking from their
cultural beliefs and practices to
pursue biblical living is very hard.
Threats from family members
hinder their growth and literacy
is an obstacle to an eective
discipleship programme. Pray
the team are a support to them.

Please pray for South
Sudan. The country is
undergoing a very dicult time
politically and socially. Internal
conict within the government,
tribal issues, cattle raiding, poor
infrastructure and low literacy
rates are hindering the growth
of the nation. Pray that recent
troubles wouldnt reoccur and
that instability would not hinder
ministry.

People focus: The Lopit
T
he Lopit are an unreached people group in South Sudan,
but praise God that they are beginning to respond to the
gospel. The rst TIMO (Training in Ministry Outreach) team
amongst the Lopit saw an African Inland Church started in
Lohutok village. Now a second TIMO team, consisting of
two Kenyan families, a Brazilian couple, a lady from the USA
and a lady from New Zealand, went out last December, to
continue the work nearby.

James King felt a call
from a very early age
to serve God in Africa so, with
that in mind, he took a course
in mechanics to equip him with
practical skills. He is currently
serving for 3 months in Kalacha,
Kenya, helping the team there
with vehicle and building
maintenance. Give thanks for
his willingness to serve where
needed in this very practical way.

that she never wanted
to live outside of the UK, Naomi
Coleman felt God call her to
respond to a request for home
school help from Mat & Katy
Linley in Madagascar. She has
given up her summer holiday
