Animo Business Innovation Zone (Animo BIZ)

Project Overview
The Universitys renewed effort to find creative ways to maximize space utilization in campus
and to increase the contribution of all physical areas in building a learner-centered research
institution was used as guidepost for Br. Bloemen Halls redesign. The student-centric area
will feature six (6) BIZ pods that will be made available to student entrepreneurs from all
Colleges.
The project aims to:
Provide a regular venue where student entrepreneurs can test their ideas and introduce their
businesses in a live, controlled environment.
Establish a mentoring program between student entrepreneurs and alumni businessmen.
Animo BIZ program guidelines for Term 3 AY 13-14

Animo BIZ managers must be DLSU undergraduate or graduate students for the term of
application and execution.
Animo BIZ managers may apply individually or as a group [maximum of five (5) managers,
including the designated leader].
Animo BIZ managers with proven academic competence will be given priority.
Interested Animo BIZ managers must submit the following documents on or before March 8,
2014:
Letter of Intent addressed to the Associate Vice President for Campus Services
Application Form (F-01)
Parental consent from each member
Please refer to Appendix A for the submission guidelines.
Five (5) Animo BIZ pods will be available for a term-long lease while 1 pod will be available
for a 2-week lease period.
Only a maximum of two (2) cooking pods will be allowed.
Animo BIZ participants must choose between selling food or non-food items
All applications will be screened and approved by a committee composed of the following:
a. Associate Vice President for Campus Services (Chair)

b. De La Salle Alumni Association President
c. Ramon V. Del Rosario Sr. College of Business representative
d. USG President
e. USG Vice President for Internal Affairs
f. Campus Services Office Student Manager
The RVR COB representative will be appointed by the RVR-COB Dean.
Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Capability of Animo BIZ manager/s 25%
Feasibility beyond Animo BIZ term 25%
Uniqueness or competitive advantage 20%
Expression of Lasallian values 10%
Social contribution 10%
Workshop for Applicants 5%
Animo BIZ Expo 5%
The top 10 applicants for the term-long Animo BIZ pods will be asked to make a 2-minute
business pitch.
Animo BIZ pods are only intended for unique or student-conceptualized products and
services. The pods may NOT be used to sell commercially available products, including
franchise products.
The rental rates for the Animo BIZ pods, inclusive of utilities, are:
Two-week lease: P 2,500
Term-long lease: P 20,000
If accepted, the full rent should be paid at the Accounting Office prior to the start of the lease
period.

All employees hired by the Animo BIZ manager/s are required to:
a. Obtain/secure health certificates from Manila City Hall
b. Present a health certificate and should be cleared by the Health Services Office.
For more information about the health certificate, please proceed to the University Clinic
located at the ground floor of Br. Connon Hall.
All businesses will be monitored by the Office of the Associate Vice President for Campus
Services.
All Animo BIZ marketing collaterals will be approved by the Office of the Associate Vice
President for Campus Services.

All equipment to be used by the Animo BIZ will be inspected and approved by the Office of
the Associate Vice President for Campus Services.
The student activity ban will be applicable to Animo BIZ projects.
DLSU reserves the right to terminate Animo BIZ contracts without refund if the business
violates University policies.
The Animo BIZ manager/s is/are responsible for the safety of all business related
paraphernalia. DLSU is not responsible for any loss and damage to equipment and materials.
Appendix A Submission guidelines
A hard copy of all accomplished documents must be submitted at LS 103. Please place all
documents in a folder following the format below:
a. Front cover
Name of business, school year and term
Below: Names of student managers and period of Animo Biz pod lease

Please place your business name on the upper right hand corner of the folder as well.
Appendix B Management guidelines
Approved menus and product lines are considered final and fixed for the duration of the term.
Requests for additional products or items to be sold must be made in writing. These shall be
evaluated on a case to case basis and will only be allowed if clearly meritorious.
All employees/staff are required to wear hairnets and gloves at all times during business
operation hours. Once inside the pod, hairnets, gloves and aprons must be worn by
employees/staff/owners. No exceptions.
Each business is required to bring their own trash cans with cover for their operations, one
each for biodegradable and non-biodegradable materials. This is intended to maintain the
cleanliness of each pod.

The use of commercially-available biodegradable packaging is required. Plastic packaging
requirements that do not have biodegradable analogues are subject to evaluation and pre-
approval. The use of styrofoam is strictly prohibited.
Each business will only be allowed to use the space directly behind the pod. Adjacent areas
may not be used as preparation or storage areas.
A common washing area is available for all Animo BIZ businesses on the side of Bloemen
Hall.
Only one (1) standee is allowed per Animo BIZ business. Additional promotional materials
are subject to approval.
VIOLATIONS:
1st Oral violation by any Campus Services officer
2nd Written warning of violation
3rd and succeeding Suspension for 2 working days
PAYMENT REFUND:
1 week after official business has started 100 % refund
2 weeks 75% refund
3 weeks 50% refund
Above 3 weeks no refund
Campus Services Office has the right to cease operations at any time.
