Maintenance and repair of

Mitras LX 6xxx lamps

The lamps of the Mitras LX 6xxx-series had been constructed in order to make repairs and maintenance easy. This
document describes the different tasks step-by-step.
HINT
Not for each job all described procedures are necessary, in most cases only a part of the (dis-)assembling work has to
be done. Thats why you should read this manual closely and in full before you start doing your job!

GENERAL HINTS
The lamp must be powerless - disconnect the lamp from the power supply!
For all the work make sure to have ESD protection (Protection against electrostatic discharge).
Avoid touching the pane from inside (finger prints).
Avoid mechanical stress to the LEDs and all electronic components on the boards.
All works done on the lamp are solely under the responsibility of the person who is performing these works.
GHL disclaims all liability for losses and damages (whether direct, indirect or consequential) which are
related to these works!
Damages caused by working on this lamp are not covered by warranty!

Before you start
First of all find something of wood or cardboard to lay the lamp on.

Disassembling of front cover with the Touch Board
(not necessary if only the LED-clusters have to be replaced!)
Turn off the two screws in the front cover. You need a hex tool 2.5mm

Pull off the front cover straight forward.

Disassembling of the display board
Precondition: Disassembling of the front cover
Disassemble the display board with a 2.5 mm hex key. The 3 screws are on the left, on the right and in the middle.

You will find an isolation plate between the display board and the heat sink. Remember the position for the later
assembling.

For later reassembling
make sure that the
header fits to the socket
easily.
Disassembling of LED Clusters
Precondition: Removal of the rear cover, pull the splash cover carefully to the rear side. You need not to disassemble
the front cover if you only want to disassemble the LED-clusters.

Having pulled out the splash cover completely:

You might have to lift the splash
cover a little bit for moving this
rivet across the big capacitor.
Open the screws of the reflectors. Having disassembled the reflector you will find another screw that must be
released.

If you only want to change LED-clusters it is good practice to untighten the screws of the main board a little bit and
to lift the main board gently

and then pull the LED-clusters horizontally.
Make sure you dont damage the heat-conduction foil below the LED-cluster!

There are 3 screws in the middle
axis and 2 screws near to each fan.
Disassembling of the Main Board
Precondition: Disassembling of the front cover with touch board, display board, splash-cover and LED-clusters
First disconnect the cable and the cable fitting

Hold the bottom part of the fitting with a 14 mm wrench and turn the top part with a 13 mm wrench.
Then release all screws of the main board.
ATTENTION: THE PLUS-POLE OF THE POWER CABLE IS MARKED. TAKE CARE THAT THE MARK DOESNT DISAPPEAR ACCIDENTALLY.
THE CABLE MUST BE RECONNECTED LATER EXACTLY IN THE SAME WAY. AN ACCIDENTALLY REVERSE POLARITY WILL CAUSE
IRREPARABLE DAMAGES!
Disassembling of Fans
Preconditions: Disassembling main board.
If you want to disassemble the fans, you need to pull off the snap rivets. You can either use a sharp side cutter or a
knife.
ATTENTION: DONT CUT THE RIVETS, ONLY PULL THEM CAREFULLY OUT!

The snap rivet consists of two parts and normally can be reused. Usually the lower part will remain in board and fan

and has to be pulled or pushed out from the other side in a second step.

Special version with displaced cover printing
This chapter is only relevant if the front cover with the touch-board or the display-board has to be replaced. When
ordering the spare parts it has to be mentioned if boards for the first series (with displacement) or for later series
(without displacement) are needed.
Due to a modification of the production process of the front covers the display- and touch-boards of the first series
differ from the boards of the later series. This is how you can determine the difference:
The front covers of the later series have a distance of 7 mm here.

The printing of the first series is displaced to the left. The distance there approximately 4.5 mm. Furthermore you
can recognize the lamps of the first series through a displacement of the connection pins:

In any case of a replacement make sure that cover with touch-board and user interface match.
The lamps with these serial-numbers have the displacement of display and cover printing:
1209071001 020, 1209074001 031, 1209076001 003, 1209077001 048
