To follow up on Discoverys recent article on creating a routine stack, I thought Id cover one of the

most commonly asked questions in the game How do you write a DHV story!
"nd lets face it, for most guys its hard enough getting up the courage to walk up to a girl and say Hi,
let alone coming up with cool, funny, or interesting things to tell her# "nd like most aspiring $%"s,
when I first started learning the ropes in &ars and clu&s, I found that one of my &iggest pro&lems was
running out of things to say# I would &e talking to a fun group of girls, they would &e laughing and
touching me and showing me interest, and then my mind would 'ust go &lank# I would &e standing there
with this awesome group of girls who were totally into me and I would have no idea what to say or do
ne(t# "nd rather than risk doing something wrong or em&arrassing myself, I would simply tell them to
have a good night and politely e'ect out of the set#
"nd this went on and on for )*+TH, until I reali-ed the pro&lem. I felt like I didnt have enough to
talk to talk a&out# This is an e(tremely common and de&ilitating pro&lem for many aspiring $%"s out
there, which is why we use canned material#
/anned material &asically as any story, routine, or gam&it that is previously prepared and memori-ed
for use in the field# Have you ever told the same 'oke more than once 0oure using canned material#
0ou know its a story that people en'oy so you tell it whenever there is a new opportunity with a new
group of people to get a laugh#
"nd now were going to take your stories and amp them up# 1ead on and you will learn how to make
your stories "TT1"/TIV2 instead of 'ust en'oya&le#
0our stories typically contain em&edded DHVs 3Demonstrations of Higher Value4, which convey the
qualities of the kind of man that women are evolutionarily programed to &e attracted to# The kinds of
DHVs you want to em&ed into your stories are things that flip the following attraction switches.

0ou can find plenty of e(amples of canned material right here on our we&site, &oth on our &log and on
our forum, in our &ooks 1evelation and The $ick8up "rtist, our DVD sets, and in our upcoming
routines manual# This material will give you tried8and8true e(amples of well8designed routines, giving
you something to practice and get a feel for in the field#
*ne you get an idea of how a DHV routine should &e delivered, you can start to write your own canned
material in order to start conveying real stories from your life and fully convey your personality# +ow
you may not feel like you have a lot of DHVs in your life, or that you have nothing interesting going on
to talk a&out, &ut if you follow the steps &elow, you will &e surprised &y 'ust how much you find you
have to say and how awesome and interesting you will sound when you talk a&out your life#
Step 1: Find Your Stories
0ou have stories and e(periences that can &e transformed into DHV stories, you 'ust need to sit down
and write them out# Think a&out some of the stories you tell or have told to your friends, family, and
co8workers# 9o through your photos or :ace&ook or even Twitter to remind yourself of some of the
adventures and interesting situations you have &een in# 0our DHV stories can come from any part of
your life# They can &e any time you.
Did something fun with a girl
Did something you werent supposed to and got away with it
Had something funny;scary;e(citing happen on a trip
Took charge of a situation
,tood up to someone for someone else
*rgani-ed something e(citing
Had someones &ack
9ot out of an awkward situation
Did something nice for someone
Did something spontaneous
"ccomplished something you are proud of
,aw something funny;scary;e(citing
"nything with humor, e(citement, or tension is perfect here# 7ight social em&arrassment is great for
humor &ecause it creates tension &efore releasing it
*f course, if you 12"770 cant find anything to work with from your own life, you can always check
out /osmo /onfessions for some good stories to make your own until you start living a little more of a
high8value lifestyle#
Step 2: Write Your Stories Out In Point Form
*nce you have gotten all your stories together, write out the &asic story points for each# 0ou dont have
to write it all out word8for8word# <ust get the &asic sequential set of events down on paper for yourself#
:or e(ample, I have a story a&out how my little &rother crashed his truck# Its a long story, and there is
a great deal that Im going to take out of the final piece# :or now though, the story points would look
like this.
6as on a date with ,amantha, took her home
7ittle &rother called at =am, usually wouldnt answer &ut it was weird that he called so late
He tells me he hit a deer and that he crashed his truck, I get directions and get up to leave
,amantha gets mad, I tell her that my &rother was in an accident# ,he wants to come &ut I tell
her to stay
I drive around forever, and the roads have gotten really icy so Im sliding everywhere
:ind my &rother, the truck is totalled# Its &een rolled so many times that the frame is twisted#
There isnt a smooth &it of metal on the truck# Its missing two of its wheels
I run to the truck screaming his name and find him covered in &lood, trying to rock it &ack onto
its tires
He tells me he wants to roll it &ack over so he can drive it home
I take him to the hospital, he was very lucky to only have a concussion and a few &ruised ri&s
and a few stiches here and there#
He was only in the hospital for a couple of hours# Thank god for small town emergency rooms>
*n the way home, he asked me to pull over and &uy him some smokes, he hands me a ?@A from
his pocket
Im kind of in shock myself so I dont look at the &ill until I get to the counter and have to pay
I had the clerk the &ill and its god &lood all over it# The clerk looks at me like Im a maniac
I smile at him and say yeah, its &een one of those nights#! He must have though I killed some
guy>
Step 3: Find/Add Your DHV Spikes
0our DHV spikes should &e items in the story that flip the attraction switches a&ove# %sing my
e(ample a&ove, you can see that my DHV spikes are.
I was on a date 3$reselection4
I helped my &rother when he was in need 3$rotector of 7oved *nes4
He thought he could still drive the truck home, and I scared the cashier with the &loody ?@A
3humor4#
0our DHV spikes do not necessarily need to &e over8the8top rock star lifestyle kind of DHVs people
like to write# +ot every story has to &e a&out how to saved an e(otic dancer and her &o( of puppies &y
getting your &uddies who are martial arts e(perts;&ouncers to help you lift a &urning &us you saw crash
while you were driving around in your &rand new car# 0our DHV spikes should never &e the point of
the story, and it should never feel like you are &ragging a&out yourself 3although you /"+ &rag a&out
your friends4# They should feel like incidental details that 'ust get mentioned off8hand while you are
telling your story#
"lso keep in mind that you dont need to hit every single switch in one single story# %sually 'ust a
couple is more than enough to make the story compelling# 5ut if you find that your story is lacking
certain DHVs, dont &e afraid to e(aggerate a little and spruce them up# )ay&e that girl you were with
on that fun adventure was your e(8girlfriend instead of that girl you had a crush on )ay&e you had
dealt with a similar situation &efore so you were only a little worried 3even though in reality you were
a&out to piss your pants4 *r may&e that guy you protected your girlfriend from &acked right down and
apologi-ed instead of trying to intimidate you Its ok to stretch the facts a 7ITT72 when youre
writing these routines# 6omen do this "77 the time# Its 'ust a part of how flirting works#
Step 4: Wat! "or and remo#e D$Vs
Demonstrations of 7ower Value, or D7Vs, are the opposite of DHVs# They tell your target that you are
not a high value male and cause her to feel less attracted to you# )ost men dont even reali-e 'ust how
much they D7V themselves in the field when they talk a&out how they only have a few friends, or how
they havent &een in a relationship in a while, or when they &rag a&out that time they saw something
em&arrassing happen to their friend, etc etc etc#
The kinds of things you want to e(clude from your stories are anything that causes her to feel
uncomforta&le or that demonstrate that you lack the DHVs listed a&ove or that display &ad social
intuition# Things like.
"nything involving &ugs, feces, vomit, &lood, snot, other &odily fluids, etc#
"ny time you were rude to or angry at a woman, old person, child, or person in the service
industry 3i#e# yelling at your girlfriend4
"ny time you laughed or took pleasure in something mean, cruel, or hurtful 3i#e# that time your
sisters prom dress was ruined4
"ny time you did something that could &e considered creepy or a social violation 3i#e# te(ting a
woman more than two or three times4
/omplaining a&out or putting down your friends or e(s 3i#e# how youre always there for your
friends, &ut whenever you need their help they always let you down4#
"ny time you followed someone elses orders or demands
"nything that associates you with other low8value people
,o in my story, Im going to scrap the entire &it a&out the &lood , as its o&viously too gross and weird
to &e talking a&out in the field# "lso the a&out ,amantha getting mad that I had to leave should go too#
Step %: &rim &!e Fat
"s you develop your routine, it is good to remem&er that you will most likely &e telling these stories in
loud, &usy &ars and nightclu&s# These sorts of venues are not good places for long, drawn8out routines
&ecause how suddenly you can &e interrupted or how quickly your set will lose interest if your story
drones on too long# 0our DHV routines should &e short and sweet#
5elow is a &asic, general structure of a DHV routine.
" few sentences to &ait the group to hear your story &y introducing it with a question or a
statement that creates mystery and intrigue, such as I hadB theB ,/"1I2,T night of my life
last week#!
" few sentences to hook your and keep them interested# 6ithin first three to four sentences you
should have said something captivating, interesting, or DHV8laden# This way, even if you get
cut off within the first few sentences, or for some reason you have to snip the thread and stack
3more on that &elow4, you should have at least uploaded value# "nd if you have created mystery
or intrigue, your set may find themselves wanting to know the rest of the story anyway#
" few sentences to descri&e what happened and &uild tension as you reel her further and further
into the story# %sing pauses, inflection, and &y descri&ing what you were feeling, you draw her
further and further into the story, causing her to feel the emotions of the event for herself# 5uild
tension &y leading up to something humorous or e(citing#
1elease the tension with your punchline, what youve learned, or the e(citing results of the
whole thing#
" secondary punchline or release, to compound the positive emotions she is feeling# This &it is
optional, &ut it never hurts to have a second funny or e(citing thing to say to add to your sets
laughter# This helps you &ecome a really funny guy! as opposed to the guy that told that
funny story!#
,o from my e(ample, Im going to trim getting directions from my &rother, as well as the &it a&out
,amantha wanting to come along, since they are &asically irrelevant details# Ill also try to word it as
succinctly as possi&le, as the less I say a&out something, the more questions my set can ask me#
Step ': Add Pauses
"dding pausing to your stories enhances the tension and e(citement, while also helping you slow down
your delivery# This will make your story more captivating# In fact, if you get your delivery down, you
can tell stories a&out a&solutely +*THI+9 and people will sit and listen to you intently# Try not to go
cra-y with pausing, or it will lose its effect and you will end up sounding like 6illiam ,hatner#
%se pausing to &uild tension &efore releasing it# 1eel them in &y pausing, then release then tension with
something humorous or e(citing#
9ood pausing.

$%". I hadB theB ,/"1I2,T night of my life last week>
