CET Admission Guidelines: 2014

FOR ADMISSION TO FIRST YEAR OF B.Sc (H.S) and B. Pharm



Candidates who have qualified in CET 2014 entrance examination of PU are required to
login (with same login ID and password) at website http://cetug.puchd.ac.in and fill
online details of +2 marks and other relevant information.

1. Before filling up the online form candidates should clearly understand the
procedure of allotment of seats as given in examples.
2. The candidate has to lock each and every section (Categories, Subjects) under
their login, without that candidate cannot take print out.
3. After completing the online form, candidates are required to take printout of the
application form and then send the same duly signed through registered/speed post
or submit it by hand along with documents to:

4. A candidate can apply for more than one course by selecting his/her order of
preferences in which he/she is eligible and qualified the CET 2014 test.
5. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories as mentioned in CET Guidelines,
available at website mentioned above should submit the copy of documents from
the competent authority in support thereof along with application on the prescribed
proforma.
6. Attach self-attested copies of the following certificates along with Application
Form, failing which the application is likely to be rejected and the original
certificates are required to produce at the time of admission.
o Matriculation Certificate showing date of birth.
o Class 10th Detailed Marks Card.
o 10+2 Detailed Marks Card.
o Character Certificate from the institution last attended
o Certificates in proof of claim in respect of reserved category, if any.
o Affidavit attested by the Magistrate 1st Class/ Notary, explaining the gap in
studies, if any.
o Copy of affidavit attested by the Magistrate 1st Class/, for single girl child
or one among the only girl children with no male child. The seat will be
available to only one of the two girl children of the couple. If claim is
made.



7. Attach your latest self-attested passport size photograph with Admission Form if
printed photo is not visible.
8. Panjab University do not take any responsibility of postal or other delays. No late
applicant will be considered. Applying only online and non submission of printed
form will result in rejection of candidature.
9. Candidates are advised to carefully read and follow the instructions given on the
website http://cetug.puchd.ac.in regularly.
10. Tentative combined Merit list prepared as per the procedure given in CET
prospectus/handbook of information will be displayed on the website
cetug.puchd.ac.in as per schedule for seeking objections, if any. Merit list for
sports category will be available after trial/grading by the University.
11. Objections, if any, should be reported at cetug@pu.ac.in as per schedule.
12. Provisional Merit List will be displayed by as per schedule on the website
http://cetug.puchd.ac.in
13. Candidates should carefully fill the options and preferences. No change in
preferences is allowed at any stage after you have locked information.
14. The admission dates and timings of reporting will be displayed along with the
merit list on the website cetug.puchd.ac.in as per schedule.
15. Only selected candidates in the merit list should appear in person on the given
date(s), timing(s) and venue mentioned at cetug.puchd.ac.in
16. The candidates should bring with them the following ORIGINAL documents and
one set of photocopy of documents at the time of admission:

o Matriculation Certificate showing date of birth.
o Class 10th Detailed Marks Card.
o 10+2 Detailed Marks Card.
o Character Certificate from the institution last attended
o Certificates in proof of claim in respect of reserved category, if any.
o Affidavit attested by the Magistrate 1st Class/ Notary, explaining the gap in
studies, if any.
o Draft of Fee to be deposited.
Original affidavit attested by the Magistrate 1st Class/, for single girl child
or one among the only two girl children with no male child. The seat will
be available to only one of the two girl children of the couple. If claim is

17. A course-wise token fee (rounded of the minimum fee for similar courses)
mentioned below as per the Prospectus must be brought by the candidates
preferably from the place of his/her residence in the form of Demand draft in
favour of Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh, to be adjusted in the
admission fee within ten working days of the admission:
o Rs.7000/- for B.Sc.(H.S.)/B. Pharm.
o Rs.21,000/- in B.Sc.(H.S.) Math & Computing
o Rs.30000/- in B.Sc Physics & Electronics

18. Admission will be based on merit cum preference basis (see examples).
19. If a candidate does not report on the specific date/dates on the venue for
admission, it will be presumed that he/she is not interested in admission in Panjab
University in that department/course and department/course with their lower
preferences. The seat will be offered to next candidate on merit cum preference
basis in the next movement list which shall be made available on website. The
movement list will be released within 5 days of release of first list or the previous
movement list, as the case may be.
20. In the movement list those candidates who have been offered seat on the basis of
their preference in a course and have failed to deposit fee and could not progress
in movement will be eligible to be re-consideration after de-reservation, if they opt
for it.
21. A candidate will be offered seat in movement list only if his/her next higher
preference seat is available.
22. The fee deposited for one course will be transferable/adjustable if he/she gets
admission in other course of his higher preference through this admission process.
23. Any seat(s) left vacant against the reserved category shall be de-reserved as per
rules mentioned in Handbook of information and will be filled in the last
counseling which will be held manually.

Rules for admission under special categories

Cancer, AIDS and Thalassemia:

1. One Additional seat each for the student suffers from Cancer, AIDS and
Thalassemia has been allowed for admission in each course in the Panjab
University teaching Department. Regional Centres and its affiliated Colleges
subject to the condition that the candidate seeking admission under each of these
categories of otherwise eligible from all angles.
2. The clamant candidate will have to submit hard copy of the application to
Coordinator, UGCET Admissions alongwith a certificate as a proof from the
National Medical Institute like PGI, AIIMS etc. in support of his/her claim

Sports
The clamant under sports category should submit two hard copies, one in Sports
Deptt. and other one to Coordinator, UGCET Admissions.

NRI

Candidates seeking admission under the Foreign Nationals/NRI Students category are
required to submit their academic certificates as a proof of passing the qualifying
examination for each course to which admission is to be sought. The minimum
qualification for them would be same as per Indian students. For details see

Examples on admission procedure

Example 1
If a candidate with rank 3 give preferences in courses as under

If seats are available in B.Pharm he/she shall be offered admission only in B.
Pharm. His options for other courses automatically get consumed. If he does not
deposit the fee in B. Pharm course it is presumed that he is not interested in
admission. The seat will be offered only in higher preference available depending
upon the merit. On getting admission in higher preference, the candidate cannot
claim seat in lower preferences.

Example 2
If a candidate with rank 356 gives preferences in courses as under

If seats are filled in courses like B. Pharm, Physics and Chemistry but seats are
available in other course of his/her preferences he/she shall be offered admission
in course in Geology (i.e., 4th preference). If he does not deposit fee in geology it
will be presumed that he/she is not interested in admission in Geology
Department. If seats fall vacant in other courses of his better preferences he may
be offered seats on the basis of merit and preferences.

Example 3
If a candidate with rank 150 give preferences in courses as under

If all seats are filled in B. Pharm. and Physics below the rank of 150. He/she will
not be offered any seat. However if seats fall vacant during process of admission
he/she may be offered seat according to merit/rank.

Example 4
If a candidate with rank 356 in general category and rank 12 in any of the reserved
category and has given preferences in courses as under

If on merit the candidate is getting seat in general category in Anthropology (his
last preference) and in Physics (2nd Preference) in SC category he/she shall be
offered admission in Physics. However if he/she is getting seat in same course
under reserved and general category, he/she shall be offered admission under
general category.

Example 5
If a candidate has appeared in 4 subjects of CET and has ranks say 184 in PCB
and 156 in PCM and has opted for following preferences .

Course Preferences
Microbiology 3
Physics 2
Geology 4
Biophysics 5
B. Pharm. 1
Anthropology 6

He/she will be considered with rank 156 in B.Pharm. and, Physics (PCB/PCM
eligibility) whereas in Microbiology with rank 184 (PCB eligible). However, seat
will be offered according to availability and merit with best preference and lower
preferences will not be considered.
