Basic Skills
1) Use the mouse with a wheel mouse, you can zoom in and out without entering a command. Move the cursor to an area in the drawing and rotate the wheel
forward to zoom in and backward to zoom out. The cursor will be the centre point of the zoom operation.
2) Draw polyline Click Draw menu > Polyline> click a point, after several points either press Enter to end the command or enter c to close the polyline. If you can't see
the point while drawing the polyline(if it is too small) you can zoom into it by using your mouse scroll wheel and rolling it away from you (towards the screen).
3) Assign Layers Click Format>Layer>move the cursor to the right side of the dialog box>right mouse click>New Layer>change properties as required.
Taking Off
1) Assign layers for the items to be measured. For example, lets say we want to measure cement render, Click Format>Layer>move the cursor to the right side of the
dialog box>right mouse click>New Layer > replace Layer1 with zFloorCR. This layer will represent areas that have cement render as the floor finishes.
2) By setting layer zFloorCR as the current layer, start drawing polyline by tracing the rooms that have cement render. Press Enter or c to close the polyine after each
rooms.

3) Assign layers for other types of flooring and continued tracing rooms that have those flooring. Make sure that the polyline is drawn on the right layer.
Abstracting
Abstracting is done by using cad2file, autolisp programme for Autocad which can be download here .

The csv file can be summarised by using Excel-PivotTable.

The total quantity for each layer is shown here.
