ICNA Relief USA is pleased to announce the development of the frst Transitonal
Housing Program for Women in Massachusets. The home will be called the Amal
(Hope) Womens Center which is
beftng considering the history of
the home and the neighborhood.
The property located at 37 Inter-
vale Street in Dorchester, MA is
owned by neighboring Masjid Al-
Quran, one of the oldest Mosques
in the metro Boston area. The
neighborhood is one rich in culture
and historical perseverance. It
boasts a rich heritage which ICNA
Relief seeks to honor by developing
programming which celebrates the
cultural diversity of the community while paying homage to the historical greats who
passed through the doors of the planned Amal Womens Center.

Construction Update
Architectural drawings done
Demoliton (complete gut out), mold remediaton and de-leading complete
New windows, patched roof, chimney repair and an exterior facing wall was
replaced - complete
Electrical; rewired entre building - complete, passed inspecton
Plumbing and heatng is near completon which consisted of ripping out old
pipes and radiators and replacing with new plumbing and heatng. New
kitchen and bathroom (3 baths) fxtures have been installed; 4 toilets, 2
showers, 1 tub and 5 sinks.
Installed Fire Sprinklers via the citys requirements for Transitonal Housing /
Rooming House. This entailed drawings submited to Fire Department and a
tank system being installed with sprinkler heads. NEXT STEPS: wiring sprin-
kler system to a fre alarm panel, testng and then calling for the city and fre
department to inspect.
Renovatons; currently the General Contractor is on hold, he cannot move
forward untl plumbing and fre sprinklers pass necessary inspectons. NEXT
STEPS: Once those are complete he will call for a framing inspecton afer
which he can begin to insulate, hang sheetrock and fnish the remodeling;
fooring, tles, cabinetry, etc. Once weve reached this stage we will be look-
ing for volunteers to help us with paintng and some of the fnishing touches.
We are hoping to reach this stage within the next couple months depending
on inspectons. Once weve reached this stage it will be only a few weeks un-
tl fnal completon and grand opening InshaAllah
