YOU ARE IMPORTANT
Do you ever feel as though you are not important? The worlds population is now said to be over 7 billion
people. When you stop to consider the number of people alive today and the number of people that have existed
throughout human history, you may feel insignificant. The planet that we live on is just a speck of dust in comparison to
the vastness of the universe; does that fact ever make you feel microscopic? When I think about these things it often
makes me feel small. I sometimes have the thought that if I am just one of billions in a universe so large, how can I
possibly be important to God and to humanity?
God has been careful to fill His message to us with reassurances that no matter how small we may feel at times,
He considers us each unique and valuable. One of the verses in the Bible that emphasizes this is found in Ephesians
2:10, For we are Gods workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for
us to do. This verse communicates three important truths that we all need to remember.
First, we are Gods workmanship. The world we live in tells us that you have to look a certain way and have a
certain personality in order to be valuable. But this verse tells us that each one of us is a unique creation of God. He is
the master craftsman that has designed us. Now we know that because of our sin nature we are not everything that He
created us to be; however He wants to work with us in our lives to help us develop into the person he made us to be.
Second, we are created to do good works. That is our general purpose in life. Each of us has different skills
and personalities. We are each like a specially designed tool in the masters hand. He works in us and through us to
produce His good fruit in this fallen world. Jesus said, You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go
and bear fruit fruit that will last. (John 15:16a).
Third, God has prepared in advance for us the opportunities to allow Him to work through us to display His
goodness to the world. His good fruit comes in the form of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control (Eph. 5:22). So do not let feelings of inferiority keep you from blossoming. Put past sins,
mistakes and failures before the Lord and ask for His forgiveness. Then leave those things in the past and move forward
in your relationship with Christ. May He fill you with His Spirit and may you find meaning and fulfillment in Him.

As I reflect on the past two years I find myself at a sense of astonishment as I reflect on the Lords work.
Immediately the thoughts of previous failures fill my head as well as the many blessings that I have had while serving at
Salem Baptist church. Mixed emotions fill me as I examine all the ways that I can grow and develop as a pastor and a
follower of Jesus Christ.
Then I am reminded of Romans 8:28 We know that all things work together

for the good

of those who love
God: those who are called according to His purpose. I have been called according to His purpose! We have been
called according to His purpose!
If we humble ourselves and surrender our lives to follow after Jesus Christ then the future is bright for those
who believe. For all things work together for those who love God.
As I think about the way God is growing me as a Christian I am excited to see Him work among our teenagers
as we travel to church camp this month.
AreaOne church camp will be from Monday, June 23
rd
thru Friday, June 27
th
. We are leaving Salem at 12 pm on
Monday afternoon and returning at 3 pm on Friday afternoon. Be in prayer for the Lord to give us safe travels and for
His will to be made known in the lives of everyone who is attending.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. - Proverbs 14:12. This statement
is also repeated in Proverbs 16:25, because of its importance. JESUS CHRIST taught us in Matthew 7:14 that
narrow is the gate and broad is the way, that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it. You may ask
how can one know the way that will not lead to death or destruction? In the Gospel of John 14:6, JESUS CHRIST
said I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the FATHER except through Me. It is by studying the
Word of GOD, and learning all about the Way of GOD, and following HIS Word, that we will become doers of HIS
Word, and inherit the Kingdom of GOD. We will also avoid the eternal damnation to Lip-Serving believers,
as recorded in Matthew 7:21 when JESUS CHRIST said Not everyone who says to Me Lord, Lord, shall enter the
Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My FATHER in Heaven.
Regular Sunday Bible Study Fellowship at 9:30 AM provides us the opportunity to study and learn the Word
of GOD, ask and have questions on our minds answered, and share faith laden experiences with one another, in a
loving, caring, non-threatening environment. The effort made to attend regularly, yields amazing dividends. Please
also invite others to join us in the Sunday Bible Study Fellowship.

VBS is coming soon! July 14

th
at Koch Park (Pavilion 1) 6:30-8:00 PM. There is still time to join
us as we Discover, Decide, and Defend the truth about Christ. Our VBS scripture is: But honor the Messiah as
Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in
you. 1 Peter 3:15 Do you have Hope? Pray that the Holy Spirit will prepare the hearts of those we meet so we
can share our Savior with them. There is a supply list on the bulletin board-and remember to eat your Pringles (or
donate them for snacks) we need the cans with lids.
Just 3 short weeks after VBS is our Back to School Carnival. We need workers to help with games, food,
set-up and clean-up. The Carnival will be from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. If you can help-before, during or after please
contact Diane Pine.
May God bless Salem Baptist Church as we share our Hope with others!
