FORMER AND CURRENT LEADERS OF TALIBAN PAKISTAN

Maulana Fazlullah (born 1974) nicknamed the "Radio Mullah" or "Mullah Radio", is the leader
of Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM), a banned Pakistani Islamic fundamentalist
militant group allied to the Pakistani Taliban, that aims to enforce Sharia in the country. He is
sometimes referred to as "chief" of the Swat Taliban

and is the son-in-law of the TNSM's
founder, Sufi Muhammad. On 7 November 2013 he was elected by the Pakistani Taliban as its
new chief, succeeding Hakimullah Mehsud who was killed in a U.S. drone strike a week prior.

Baitullah Mehsud (1974 5 August 2009) was a leading militant in Waziristan, Pakistan, and
the leader of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He formed the TTP from an alliance of about
five militant groups in December 2007. He is thought by U.S. military analysts to have
commanded up to 5,000 fighters and to have been behind numerous attacks in Pakistan
including the assassination of Benazir Bhutto which he and others have denied.


The Haqqani network is an Islamist insurgent group using asymmetric warfare to fight against
US-led NATO forces and the government of Afghanistan. Maulvi Jalaluddin Haqqani and his son
Sirajuddin Haqqani lead the group. The group operates on both sides of the Afghanistan-
Pakistan border, and U.S. officials believe it is based in Pakistan's Waziristan tribal frontier. The
Haqqani network is allied with the Taliban

Maulvi Nazir (aka. Maulvi Nazir Wazir)(1975 - 2 January 2013) was a leading militant of the
Pakistani Taliban in South Waziristan.Nazir's operations were based around Wana.
He was opposed to foreign influence, particularly Uzbek and American, in Waziristan.The
Pakistani military and intelligence establishment consider Nazir to be "good Taliban" as he did
not have a particularly anti-government agenda or openly seek the overthrow of the Pakistani
state. He was killed by a U.S. drone strike on 2 January 2013

Hakimullah Mehsud (1979 1 November 2013), born Jamshed Mehsud and also known as
Zulfiqar Mehsud, was the emir of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He was deputy to Commander
Baitullah Mehsud and one of the leaders of the militant group Fedayeen al-Islam prior to the
elder Mehsud's death in a CIA drone missile strike.

Qari Shakeel Ahmed Haqqani
A close associate of Omar Khalid Khorasani, he is currently the head of the TTPs political shura
and deputy chief of the TTP Mohmand.

Wali-ur-Rehman (Wali Ur-Rehman Mehsud) (c. 1970, (Bannu) - 29 May 2013) was a senior
Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander based in South Waziristan. Wali-ur-Rehman was
formerly a spokesman for Baitullah Mehsud, the late leader of the TTP.

Ehsanullah Ehsan was a spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban.

Omar Khalid also known as Omar Khalid Khorasani is the commander of Tehrik-e-Taliban
Pakistan (TTP) in Mohmand Agency. He is considered one of TTP's most effective and powerful
leaders in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. His real name is Abdul Wali and belongs to
the Safi tribe.
