The Ascetic Heat of Indian Sadhu is now a national nuisance, and not a thrust to higher life

It may sound facetious to the reverential, but Indian Sadhu is mainly a product of uncontrollable sexual
frustration, I believe. First of all, barring a few states we dont have a girl for every boy, and this is an age
old problem. Then culturally, in most parts of the country, boy meeting a girl before marriage is not on.
And finally among the boys, there are warped, foot-draggers, and other kinds of misfit, who know they
dont have a chance in hell amidst such fierce competition. Some give up after a wait, and some
preemptively save themselves from being a target of ridicule. In rural India, an overage bachelor is a
lampoon. They go out in search of finding a solace from the burning desire. Returning back is like losing
both the worlds. They turn up as Sadhus. The society and the government have to find a way to stop this
emigration of the productive youth to a meaningless course of life.
Asceticism had relevance when knowledge was available only in gurukuls and ashrams of great rishis
and saints. In these times, one will only gather ignorance by remaining away from the mainstay of
education. Besides, forced abstinence from sex can only make a person sick, and not a yogi or an
erudite. It is the company of woman that makes a man a better man. You can never trust the instincts of
a person who never had a relationship with a woman.
As we have seen lately, these so called sadhus either become pest to the society, by practicing occult,
littering the holy towns, doing things of no consequence or they come back with vengeance once they
have procured money and influence.
The ascetic heat (tapas) that was once considered essential energy to climb the higher ladder of life is
now a national nuisance. A civilized world cant allow such a criminal wastage of its talent and resources,
in the name of moksha or nirvana.
A man in saffron sulking at a public place is no more a figure of reverence. He is an untouchable, in fact.
He evokes angst or pity, not awe or respect. While in hordes, sadhus look like invaders. They are the
most uneducated and uncouth people, purposelessly walking the earth.
The big among them evoke dread. To media, their stupid statements are like hot cakes. And both of
them, in tandem, can any time destroy the peace of a nation for no reason. If these rogues had so much
interest in worldly affair why the hell they wore saffron and pretended renouncement. They want to
enjoy political and financial dividends without having put any stake.
Sadhu is the best way to own a fake identity. In these marked times of crime and terror, no one can be
allowed to hide his real identity in the guise of a Sadhu. Its the time for the government to act sincerely
and bring down this colossal menace.
