Jump into a
Summer of
Learning
Dear Families,
Summer is here and we are all ready to play, vacation, and spend time
with our families and friends. Time for fun and relaxation are important, but we
also know that many weeks away from school can cause learning to be lost.
The following activities are not meant to mimic school or overwhelm you or
your child. Rather, the activities will help students maintain healthy habits
such as reading daily, writing, and practicing math facts!
Please return this packet next school year. We cant wait to meet you!

A Note to Teachers

All children experience learning losses if they do not engage in summer
learning opportunities. Studies dating back to 1906 find that all children score
lower on standardized tests at the end of summer vacation than they do when it
begins.
This short packet can help prevent your students from losing learning
momentum. This packet has easy to complete activities that will allow children to
take a well-earned break but also continue to learn and grow throughout the
summer.
This packet can be sent home on the last day of school and returned on the
first week back to school. It is designed to send home with students and be just
enough homework to engage students, but not so much it overwhelms students
and families.
You can copy this packet double sided to save paper. Be sure however, to
copy the flashcards single sided so students can cut them out to practice.
