So then, how do you juice?

Well, you can either juice with fresh fruit or vegetables, or a combination of the two.
Remember that vegetable juicing is an important source of raw food, however there is a
smallc aveat…. .

I would like to make you well aware that if you are fruit juicing, it will increase your
insulin levels when it is consumed. This is important to remember, because vegetable
juicing will not have this effect, however there is an exception. Beet or carrot juice. They
will have a similar effect to fruits….as their functions are closely related. This will also

You need to consume one pound of raw vegetables per fifty pounds of your body weight
every day. This can be a bit tiresome, trying to work it out, prepare it and monitor it too.

this can have a profound effect on our bodies in many ways. For instance this causes free
radical build up, which will definitely leave us open to sudden aging and many diseases
including cancer.

great thing about juicing is it allows you to eat more vegetables than you would normally.
Thus, absorbing more antioxidants, giving your body more ammunition to fight free
radicals.

So briefly then, what do you juice, and what are the good sources of traditional nutrients?
On a personal note I recommend berries. There are many types, however they are very
rich in antioxidants, and provide many health benefits.

If you want good healthy portions of vitamin C, then look at citrus fruits such as oranges
andgr apefrui t

fact weight for weight they contain twice as much vitamin C than an orange.

Fruit juices are also a good source of essential minerals including iron, copper,
potassium, sodium, iodine and magnesium.

Carrot juice is the age old favourite. High in vitamin A, it is a great source of beta-
carotene. Re me mbe ry ourMot hera lwa ysna gg ingy oua saki d,s aying“ eaty ourgr e

So how is juicing better for you than eating the food whole? The key is the juicing
process removes the indigestible fibre. That means the nutrients are available to the body
in much larger quantities than if the piece of fruit or vegetable was eaten whole.

You see, because many of the nutrients are trapped in the fibre, so when you eat a raw
carrot for example, you are only able to assimilate roughly one per cent of the available
beta carotene. Now…juicing the carrot and removing the fibre allows for almost 100 per
cent of the beta carotene to be assimilated.

Currently, there are many juice extractors on the market. However, if you are new to
juicing, it's advisable to start off with an inexpensive juicer. At least that way if you
decide juicing is really not for you, then you are not hugely out of pocket.

•EatThe Pulp!
Juicing produces pulp. A good tip is to mix the pulp in with the juice and consume it. By
adding the pulp fibre back into the juice, it serves as a fertiliser for the good bacteria in
the colon.

•Add Spirulina
Rich in beta carotene and phytonutrients, spirulina (a type of blue-green algae) is
considered a complete protein because more than half of it consists of amino acids.

•AddChl or ella
Chlorella is a form of algae, like spirulina, which is a powerful detoxification for
breaking down heavy metals in the blood such as mercury. Add one teaspoon.

•AddEssential Oil

evening primrose oil. Cod liver oil is highly recommended in the winter period, while
fish oils is beneficial for the summer months. Vegetable juice is a great breakfast when
balanced with some essential oils and a little chlorella.

•AddSeeds
Try adding freshly ground raw seeds to the pulp. The seeds are full of protein and
essential fatty acids. Use pumpkin, sunflower and flax seeds. If you have a coffee grinder
then grind the seeds in that.

•Don’ tOver-do Your Carrots and Beets

They are very popular vegetables for juicing, frequently appearing on menus at juice
bars, however just remember they are full of sugar, and can increase your insulin
levels!
