from Bahia, Brazil. Brittonia 51: 74-76. 1999. --A new species, As pi dos per ma
thomasii, collected in the vicinity of Uru~uca is described. It belongs to subgenus
Aspidosperma section Aspidosperma and is closely related to the A. parvifolium
A. DC. group.

This species has been collected only in
Uru~uca, in the vicinity of Ilh6us, state of
Bahia (Brazil). It belongs to sect. Aspido-
sperma (Marcondes-Ferreira & Kinoshita,
1996), formerly ser. Pyricolla Woodson
(Woodson, 1951), closely related to the
group formed by Aspidosperrna parvifolium
A. DC., A. pyricollum Mtill.-Arg., A. ulei
Markgr., A. vargasii A. DC., A. olivaceum
Miill.-Arg., and others (Marcondes-Ferrei-
