Digital Communications:
A Female Leaders Perspective
1:45 Integrating communication and aligning it with
the core of the business
Business communication used to be about spin;
playing up your organisations good points
and doing your best to bury the bodies when
things went wrong. In the digital age, where
people can see further into your business
than ever before, organisations will thrive from
building a stand-out culture; not just saying
theyre great, but being great and being
known for it.
This session looks at the critical importance of
keeping communication consistent with the
DNA of your organisation:
How to integrate all elements of
communication to build a stand-out culture
The key attributes of superior
communicators in the digital age
How to be transparent and keep your
reputation intact

About the facilitator:

Dr Neryl East helps people become
stand-outs as leaders, team members
and individuals - ensuring their
outstanding communication skills match
their behaviour.
Neryl has a 30-year track record as a
communication expert including a career in
television and radio and more than a decade
in the rough-and-tumble of local government.
She has a Master of Arts and a PhD in
Journalism.
She started as a cadet journalist in the (then)
male-dominated environment of Sydney radio,
and remembers being told to wear high heels
so she could kick the TV cameramen if they
got in her way during all-in media interviews,
which often looked more like scrums.
She moved to the world of television
where she reported and presented every
conceivable type of story from grisly murders
to over-sized vegetables and everything in
between.
Neryl then crossed to the dark side into
corporate communication and later found
herself in local government where she likens
her role to juggling hand grenades while
pedalling a unicycle across a flaming tightrope
over a crocodile-infested gorge!
Neryl now inspires business and organisations
to have a stand-out culture, helping them seize
the opportunities and meet the challenges of
the reputation-driven social media age.
Author of two highly successful reports:
Strategic Internal Communication for Complex
Organisations and

Corporate Culture, Productivity and Profitability

3:30 Pulling it all together: Social media as an
enabler for achieving successful bottom-line

Social Media is a tool. When done well it
enables and enhances communication
and collaboration both internally within
organisations and externally in the community
and broader networks. We will tie together the
value that can be achieved both personally
and professionally, we will be looking at the
critical area of the internal communications
/ content strategies which cannot be over
emphasised, and we will be covering the
integration / alignment of that communication
with the business needs.

In this final session of the day, we will work on
how to consolidate the learnings from the day
with key approaches that can deliver benefits
to you both personally and professionally, we
will cover;
The benefits of social media for your
organisation and what data is around
Why 75% of social media initiatives fail
Putting the puzzle pieces together, what is
the recipe for success
Consolidating action points from each
session to enable you to step into a thought
leadership role in this space
