can come out and help over

One of the things that we are
ghting continually in our
community is the deterioration
of marriages. More people
attend counseling than in past
years and we believe that this is
because couples are not able to
prioritize each other in their
marriage.
Therefore we would like to help
facilitate a way to trade out
babysitting services between
families to create guilt free no
cost date nights.
If you are interested in helping
to watch kids and trading out
time for date nights email

Almost every one of us are
familiar with the 23rd Psalm:
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I sha!
not want. 2 He makes me lie down i$
green pastures. He leads me beside sti!
%aters. 3 He restores my soul. H&
leads me in paths of righteousness for
his name's sake. 4 Even though I wal'
through the va!ey of the shadow of
death, I wi! fear no evil, for you ar&
%ith me; your rod and your sta(, they
comfort me. 5 You prepar& a tabl&
before me in the presence of my
enemies; you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overows. 6 Surely goodness
and mercy sha! fo!ow me a! the days
of my life, and I sha! dwe! in th&
house of the Lord forever. #ESV$
Archeologically, the Valley of
Death David describes is on the
Kings Road through the Judean
Wilderness to Jerusalem. A place
that was rife with bandits and
thieves. It is a road where Jesus
tells the parable of a Samaritan
who helps a man badly beaten by
robbers. So, it is a very real place.
Theologically, it is helpful to
remember that we are not David,
and that our tough days are not
the Goliath to conquer. Even
though we may not be David, we
have had some days that felt like
Davids days.
I remember how particularly
tough the second year was for me
at CFC. Some things had
happened that I did not
understand, and was not really
equipped to handle. No matter
how I tried, I could not get away
from the feelings and frustrations
that I had. It was something that
pressed against every good day I
had, and was squeezing the joy
out of me.
So what did I do? The same
thing I prescribe to others, I
prescribed to myself: Read the
Psalms. So I was praying, reading,
and crying out to God in the 23rd
Psalm, and He hit me upside the
head, Jason, you may walk
through the valley of death, but
you dont live there. It was a
revelation.
This is why the Psalmist says
He leads me, He restores me,
and He makes me. Our own
human nature is not to always lie
down in the green lush sustaining
pastures, or to stop by the still
waters and be sustained by His
peace. No, our nature is to
become xated, fearful,
frustrated, and frozen by the
things that rob us of life, and lead
to a kind of death.
The Israelites experienced it
in the crossing of the Red Sea:
Moses, Fear not, stand rm, and
see the salvation of the Lord, which
he wi! work for you today. For th&
Egyptians whom you see today, you
sha! never see again. 14 The Lord wi!
ght for you, and you have only to b&
silent. Exodus 14:13"14 #ESV$
What is Gods response to
stopping, standing, and silence?
The Lord said to Moses,
Why do you cry to me? Tell the
people of Israel to go forward.
Exodus 14:15 #ESVh$
We like to stop, yet the Lords
command is to keep moving. Lets
be clear though, He isnt
commanding them to move in
their own strength. It is His
strength alone that has moved
them, and going forward, only He
can truly move them. Only He
can truly move us.
I found this declaration
helpful during that tough year.
Maybe you need it right now, and
maybe you wont need it for a few
months. The Bible testies to us
that it isnt if we need it, but
when we will need it.
God can handle what
I can't handle.
God can heal what
I can't heal.
God can restore what
I can't restore.
God can forgive who
I can't forgive.
God can love who
I can't love.
God can save who
I can't save.
God can manage who
I can't manage.
The point is to keep
reminding yourself that you can't,
I can't " But God can, and Praise
God He will.
Let me share one more thing
that the Lord revealed. It was
that in Christ the things that
appear as death are simply a
shadow, a lie.
You and I have been claimed,
cleaned, and are being kept for a
greater day. There is no death,
whether temporary or
permanent, that can overshadow
the eternity that has already been
secured in Christ Jesus for you.
When I really got that it
helped me with the ways I
struggled with Paul. I mean,
when you read the Bible, he is a
superman for Jesus. How did he
fearlessly walked through the
valley of death that scripture
records over and over that he is?
He did so because death no
longer had a sting when he saw it
as gain. #Phil 1:21$ The valley isnt
quite so scary when we come to
realize that it is a place to gain
Christ by seeking Him fully.
