barun pramanik
Barun aspires to capture the rhythm of happiness, the rhythm of motion and the cadence of
nature in his works. He wants the society to be lively and full of vigor. He desires all the happiness
and motion should exist on a collective basis and not on any individual or isolated basis. He aims
to showcase the happiness at each level of the society by using various musical instruments,
starting from the ute used by the Rakhal (the village cowherd) to the instruments used by the
members of a music band accompanying a procession.
The medium of his work is bronze. He incorporates Dokra form in all his works. He is inuenced
and provoked by the Dokra form. He uses the forms in a way which gives a long lasting essence to
his sculpture.
Nature is an important element in all his works. Birds and owers and the musical instruments
like the Sitar, Sarengi, Dotara, Ektara, Thunga and Saxophone which correlate with the songs of
the birds form the main subjects of his works.

always explores the hidden territory of visual forms within his own comprehension. Fascinated by
the spirit beyond the apparent visual world, Subrata's sculptures conjure up the complexities of
nature and human relationship. The sculptor pays due attention to the vision and depth of subject
thereby invoking a range of metaphors indicating a critical level of signicance. Subrata has
created a distinctive style of his own with evocative sculptures embellished with the immaculate
mixture of the principles of art of east and west. His sculptures highlight a series of three
