ARCHITECTURE/ART
Architecture
The most important building for in Islam was the mosque followed by the royal
palace. The Islamic empire brought a series of new ways to build into the world
like hypo style architecture and spiral staircases.
Examples of architecture are The Great Mosque of Samarra and The Great
Mosque at Cordoba.
ART
The Islamics had and still do have a strict set of rules even with art, for example
artists were forbidden to draw human like figures in religious art. Islamic luster-
painted ceramics were imitated later by Italian potters during the renaissance
This was when ceramics, glass, metalwork, etc. came into the world

FAMOUS ISLAMIC CITIES
Cairo: capital of Egypt and biggest city of Middle East.
Karachi: the largest city of Muslim World. its In Pakistan and considered
commercial hub of Pakistan. Its population is around 20 million.
Istanbul: Istanbul is the capital city of Turkey that has many amazing
places. Its population is 13.5 million.

ALGEBRA/SCIENCE
Algebra
Al-Khwarizmi was the first major Muslim mathematician he is famous for introducing the field of algebra into the
discipline.
He introduced Arabic numerals in the 11th century replacing roman numerals and became Known as algorithms
(after his name).
Islam also developed trigonometry

Science
A page of Ibn Sahls manuscript show his discovery of the law of refraction (Snells law).
Al-Razi realised that alcohol can be used as an antiseptic.
Muslims built the first observatory as a scientific institution.
Qutb al-Din al-Shirazi explained the cause of the rainbow.
Al-Kashani invented the first computing machine.


MEDICINE
The Islamic Empire created the pharmaceutical sciences like, physiology and
surgery, They also set up some of the earliest dedicated hospitals like the first
medical schools and psychiatric hospitals.
Al-Razi made the first major Islamic contribution to medicine when he
developed treatments for smallpox

NAVIGATION

The Quran encourages Muslims to travel throughout the earth to see God's signs
and patterns everywhere, But without the Astrolabe it would have taken much
longer for us to discover new places like India, The Caribbean, etc.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion the most important achievement of the Islamic
empire in my eyes was the architecture, because we still use a
lot of their methods today and their buildings are quite
impressive. There are millions of giant colourful mosques
around the world all thanks to the Islamic empire.
GLOSSARY
Hypo style
in architecture, a hypostyle hall has a roof which is supported by columns, as in the Great Hypostyle
Hall at Karnak. The word hypostyle comes from the Ancient Greek hypstlos meaning "under columns.

Islamic luster-painted ceramics
Islamic luster-painted ceramics are pots that have been painted with a glittery shiny paint.

Psychiatric Hospitals.
A hospital dedicated to the care and treatment of people with acute or chronic mental illnesses aka metal
hospital.
Law of Refraction
Snell's Law. Like with reflection, refraction also involves the angles that the incident ray and the refracted ray
make with the normal to the surface at the point of refraction. Unlike reflection, refraction also depends on
the media through which the light rays are travelling.
